No FP+ for A:FOP at 60 days

I made my FOP last week for the Oct 7.
I'm going Oct 2-11, so it was 60+5 days out and I had my pick of times starting around 11am.

NO WAY! everyone has different work schedules. I work 2nd shift and setting my alarm to make FP at 6 am my time (when I didn't get to sleep until 2 or 3 am) is more than just an inconvenience. to have to do it for days in a row is ridiculous.. staying on site has it's perks, as it should. this is just like the ADRS anyone can book them at 180 days out. but stay on site? you can book them at 180 days plus 10.. the way it is now is very fair.

No its not, anyone can book ADRS at 180 days, people staying on site can book them for the length of stay. Only people staying on site can book fast passes 60 days out , but people staying longer have an advantage. If the average person stays 7 days, the someone staying 8 or 10 days can basically pick whatever they want for the last 2 or 3 days while someone staying 5 days or so likely can't even get certain fast passes as they are already booked up by the people staying longer. Sorry but that is a major flaw. Same flaw as with the dining reservations. I've eaten at CRT twice at 8:15pm, not because we wanted to but because that is what was available on first day of booking. Wonder who got the other times.....

It may be a flaw in your opinion. But Disney can't make every aspect of the trip fair for every single person. I mean the FP release time for booking is 7am, so what if someone starts work at 5am...it's not fair for them, they need to wait until they get home to make them and may miss out on good ones. Nothing will ever be fair for everyone. Just the way it is.

Once the novelty wears off FOP I'm sure FP will become easier to get.

Not true. If you are staying 7 days, getting any FP is not a problem for the last two days. Pick a time and FOP will be available. It's only hard to get FOP within the first ~4 days of your trip.

Plus, this is EXACTLY what disney wants. They want people staying longer (and spending more money on tickets and souvenirs).

Potentially yes, but even that isn't a guarantee. Should people not eat for the first parts of the trip too?

I'm confused.
I feel like I keep getting mixed answers on this.
So our check in date is 10/18, staying until 10/24.....7 days total.
Our 60 day mark is 8/19.
Are you saying that I can book FP+ 7 days earlier? That would be 8/12.

Disney provides many options for FP+ at Animal Kingdom. If your #1 choice isn't available please consider booking a FP+ for these great attractions:

Primeval Whirl
It's Tough to be a Bug
Festival of the Lion King
Finding Nemo Musical
Adventurer's Outpost

LOL...about spit my coffee out at work seeing this one. I'm in same boat as you all. Going on quick trip for DD birthday and MNSSHP Oct 6-9. Only FoP FP+ available at 7:00am yesterday was 4:00pm our last day. I ended up cancelling that one last night as it was just cutting it way to close with our 7:00pm flight.

No, what they are saying (and some people don't realize) is that on 8/19, you can book FPs for all 7 days of your trip.

Maybe this post from the FP FAQ will help clear up the confusion, purple emphasis added:
Booking Windows

- The booking window opens at 7:00a Eastern Time each day.

- FPs can be booked in advance, with different booking windows opening for the following 3 general categories of guests:
  • Onsite Guests - 60 Days Before Check-in Date:
    • Guests staying at WDW owned and operated resorts (including DVC) with a room/ticket package.
    • Guests staying at WDW owned and operated resorts (including DVC) with a room-only reservation and valid tickets booked separately and linked to an MDX account.
    • Guests staying at the Swan or Dolphin resorts and valid tickets linked to an MDX account.
    • Guests linked to or listed on an onsite guest's MDX account (controlled by the onsite guest) and valid tickets linked.
  • Offsite Guests - 30 Days Before Park Day:
    • Guests not staying at any of the resorts listed above, but with tickets linked to an MDX account. Note: If offsite guests are linked to or listed on accounts of onsite guests above, they share the onsite guests' booking window of 60 days.
  • Castmembers - 7 Days Before Park Day:
    • CMs not staying at any of the resorts listed above, but with CM tickets linked to an MDX account. CM tickets include Maingates, Guest Passes, and comps. Note: If CMs are linked to or listed on accounts of either category above, they share that category's booking window (60 days onsite, 30 days offsite).
- Onsite guests can book FPs for their entire stay, for as many days as they have tickets for. The maximum number of days is at least 14—reliable data beyond this number is unclear. Practically speaking, this means FPs can be booked for more than 70 days away.
  • For onsite guests with a room/ticket package, the 60-day prebooking window will not appear until the 60-day mark. Before this point, it is normal for various members and/or their tickets to not appear on the MDX account. The entire traveling party and their tickets will appear at the 60-day mark in almost all cases. It is generally not possible to practice booking FPs beforehand in this situation.
  • For onsite guests with a room-only reservation, the 60-day prebooking window will not appear until the 60-day mark, assuming valid tickets are attached to the account. Before this point only a 30-day window (from the current day) will be active, again assuming valid tickets are attached to the account. It is possible to practice booking FPs using this 30-day window.
  • If a guest has more resort days booked than ticket days in the MDX account, the FPs can be scheduled on any days during the stay. For example, if a guest has a 5-day stay from Monday to Friday but only 3 days of tickets, FPs can be scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
- Offsite guests can book no more than 30 days in advance. This means FPs must be scheduled day-by-day for each day of the stay, assuming the guest wants the widest possible choice of FPs available for each day of their stay.

- Annual Pass (AP) holders have similar benefits as onsite guests when staying at an onsite resort. The primary difference is that AP holders can book up to 7 days of FPs at all times, and more if the length of the onsite stay is greater.

- AP holders have similar benefits as offsite guests otherwise, except that they cannot have more than 7 days of FPs booked at any one time.

Yes, that's what I had planned on.
But for some reason, I keep getting confused when I read 60 days PLUS "x" amount on days.
My brain takes the '+' the other direction lol.

And thanks @mesaboy2 . I believe it was you that clarified this for me last week.

Anywho.....back to your regularly scheduled program...

So if AK is on our 4th day, people are having trouble at that point in their FP+ bookings for FOP?
Should I consider changing our AK date to our 6th day (final park day)?
We don't have park hoppers.
It messes up our ADRs, but I really want to experience FOP.
I've been considering rope drop, just in case we can't get them.

My 60-day FP+ window opened this morning. I couldn't get a FP+ for A:FOP on any of the four days we are there (Oct. 6 to Oct. 9)

It's not a huge deal; we were able to get a FP+ for our trip last week. It's a really cool attraction.

I tweeted my dismay at the WDWToday account. Their answer was to keep checking as other guests may cancel the FP+ for the attraction. Riiiiiiiiigggggghhhhhtttttt!

:rotfl2:
What day of your trip did you try for?
I booked for our trip, 10/8 thru 11
I was able to get FoP FP for 4 for the PM of the 10th and AM of the 11th
When I booked for our August trip it was the same, day 4 of our trip I got PM FP (for 2 this time) and day 5 I got in the AM
This is pretty standard across the board, you can get FP on day 4, so if you have 3 day trips you are out of luck most of the time. So I am not seeing any difference in crowds whatsoever.

Every once in a while folks find a FP for earlier in their trip but not regularly.
Otherwise, folks do find FP later. There are numerous reports of folks finding day of FP. People do change the park they plan to go to and when they book FP for that new park, the FP they had are put back in the system. Someone gets them. It may be you. If you are lucky

We were able get all of our desired FP+s and times for October 7-14th this morning at 4am (Arizona). We secured Navi on 10/8 ant 12:35a and FoP on 10/12 at 10:45am. We purposely picked the later AK visit day (Thurs vs. Sunday) to increase the chances for a desirable FP+time and it worked.

While getting up at 3:45am was not fun, the results were awesome. I hope everyone can get there requests.

Mike

We are going October 6-15. I couldn't get any for Oct. 8 but I did manage to get one for Oct. 13. As of early yesterday morning (before 7 am), TP reported there were still some afternoon passes on Oct. 8. I'm guessing those were all taken by those whose window opened yesterday.

My window opened yesterday and I was on FP booking as the clock struck 7:00 a.m. My first date check on FoP was 10/8 and there were no FPs left for 10/8. Jumped to 10/10 (our 2nd scheduled day for AK) and was able to snag 6 FP+ at any time I wanted to choose. This was all before 7:05 a.m. I backtracked and booked 10/8 with NRJ, KS and EE. Only booked KS for 10/10 and FoP. We will rope drop and hit EE that day as well. I had zero issues getting the other FPs I wanted in other parks, including FEA and SDMT.

Your 60 day FP window opens 8/23. On that date, you can book FPs for every day in your stay.

The FP window opens at 60 days before the start of your trip. The size of the window opening is for the length of your onsite stay, split stays included (all onsite) with a maximum of 14 days.

I understand now. When I book the last day of my trip, I'll be booking 70 days out. Thanks!

I agree with the practice even though my family is the underdog in this situation. I totally feel the planner of the family should only have to get up once and have all fp in place

We typically stay on-site and technically are this time but Shades of Green is only 30 days out and it is a hard 30, so 3 days in a row to do FP+ - I am super spoiled with the one time FP+ booking

so true. the FP booking time used to be midnight, which, as a night owl, Iloved! it was 11pm my time. (once it fell on a work night, and I begged another server to cover for me so I could get home in time lol) when it changed to 7 am I was not happy! but I understand it's more convenient for people with "normal" work hours. which is whyit's great that, as a reward for staying onsite I can book FP for the entire trip and not have to do it every morning. as to a longer stay, yes that's the way disney rewards those who stay longer.

When I booked (at 60 days) I was unable to book FoP until day 5
I really wanted an am slot but got the closest I could-.12.50pm
