Yeah, I agree it does seem to be a small menu. Does anyone know if the NY Strip is good there?

I Alway wonder why folks go to a place known for its seafood looking for steak.

Typically, it's a matter that someone in the party enjoys seafood, and someone else in the party doesn't.

you're exactly right! Everyone in my family adores seafood and I personally can't stand it. I occasionally eat fish but usually just a nibble. I HATE to deprive my family of a type of food they like just b/c I don't like it. We have ADRs for CR this fall and now that I hear the reviews on the NY strip I'm quite looking foward to it. And if the strip wasn't so good? I would survive on the dessert and a chicken ceaser salad.

I have one rule at my house. If I don't eat it, I won't cook it. My husband is welcome to purchase and cook any ocean critters for him and my kids. Otherwise, that's what eating out is for...to order the things they don't always get at home and CR is the perfect example!

I am with you!!! DD cannot stand seafood and the rest of us love it. So, we do the same thing... :thumbsup2

Exactly! Well, I like Maryland crab cakes and other Maryland seafood dishes, but that's about it. We really just want to go for the ambience. The steak is the ONLY thing on the menu that remotely interests me, so I'm glad to hear it's good.

I booked CR for late April after reading the (then old menu), so I was disappointed to find the menu had changed prior to arriving. I was looking forward to the filet or swordfish. I'm not a big seafood eater, but hubby likes it. I tried the NY strip. In my case I wanted filet, so the NY strip did not cut it for me, but there was nothing else on the menu of interest to me. I thought it was just OK, but only ate a couple of bites. Hubby ate some of it as I didn't want to waste it and he had gobbled down his fish dish. He said it was OK, not the best he had ever had. We had a second ressie for the next week, so I tried the crab cake....being from the MD area I thought, OK, this should be good....yuck. My daughter and I both had it and didn't like it at all. (If you're a MD crab cake lover--this will disappoint you). Neither of us finished not even half of this dish. CR is off my list now until the menu changes. Too many other places to try. Our next trip in Septmber we plan to try Maya grill (I noticed it had filet mignon on the menu). And for our October trip, we plan to try GF Cafe, Spoodles, and Olivias for the first time. Of course we still have our regular places that we eat several times each trip (LeCellier, Concourse, and Kona).

Maya Grill's menu does look good, but I remember it having so many other and better choices. It's a shame that the more adventurous cuisine they served there didn't survive the test of time.

GF Cafe is a great place, but it suffers from "everything else is so much cooler" syndrome. :)

We love Spoodles. Unfortunately, Marianne Hummel is no longer exec chef there, and that's a big loss. FWIR, it's still very good, but the focus on tapas is gone. We're excited to see what the new chef has done with the place.

Olivia's never impressed me. (shrug)

Ahah...I thought I had just made a mistake telling hubbie that we were going to a fish place but he could have a nice filet. Lol Now I find they changed the menu. We got there decided we werent that hungry then looking at the menu decided to order just one adult meal one kids meal and have a nice snack later.

Remember, menus change all the time. Never promise (especially to children, and childish SOs :)). :lmao:
