I have read that Fastpasses are not going to be available to book at opening of the lands.

Wondering if DAS passes will be allowed?

It’s just initially to help with crowd flow. I can’t imagine DAS not being available.

I was wondering about DAS as well, because we use it and will need it to access this attraction with our son. I think it will be offered because every ride offers it and there was no mention that this one wouldn't. However, I can imagine you might go to get a DAS and be told, "your return time is in 5 hours." So, I mean, you will have to plan for that.

Interesting that it just specifies CHILDREN with disabilities. Or maybe Iger is just not the best at using words and he meant "guests with disabilities."

We have a weekend at Fort Wilderness booked in October. I was not planning on going to the parks but we said we would consider if SWGE is open by then. I KNOW crowds will be insane, but I have never been any time remotely near a big new opening so I have no idea how it works....will they eventually open up FP+ and if so, any idea when? I am assuming the website is crashing a bit because I keep getting Stitch and a broken link when I try to go on the FAQ's for Star Wars.

I wouldn't expect FP to open until well into 2020. WDW states DAS can be used for any attraction with FP+, so I don't see how you could use DAS for Smuggler's Run without a Fast Pass line. Disneyland is different in that they let you use DAS for any line regardless, but so many of their rides are older and less accessible, so I can see why that is. Either way there's no way I will go into Galaxy's Edge until the hype runs down a bit, just imagining the crowd is panic attack inducing.

there will be problems if they do not let DAS to get on the ride they did let the DAS for TSM when there where no FP and the DAS can also be used at the rocket ride in MK and this ride has no FP

Iger was answering a guest question this morning about a Make a wish child the person was helping this article is just saying with bob told this guest Bob did say in his answer guest with Disability not just children

The article (and the statement from Iger) is definitely non-specific in terms of what qualifies as "guests with disabilities" - Iger did specifically mention Make A Wish participants, but it's unclear exactly what other kinds of disabilities will be eligible. I did notice that it was the ARTICLE that specified children, but Iger just said "people with disabilities"...that sounds like the article writer just applied that assumption. I would expect that something like special access to a new land is not going to include your average DAS user, or ECV/wheelchair renter....but we'll see what develops.

We’re making provisions for very, very special access to both of those lands for people with disabilities because we know that they’re going to be incredibly popular when they open, and thus, fairly busy. We want to make sure they’re accessible to some of our most important guests, like children that are in the Make-A-Wish program,” Iger shared."

Yeah, upon reading it again, I saw that he first said children but then later said guests.

What I imagine this means is that guests with a DAS will be given a return time at some point in the day they request it, but maybe less than what the standby wait time will be. Like, if the ride has a 6 hour line, maybe the return time will be in 3 hours instead of 6. Most DAS users, I think, don't spend full days in the parks. We never do. My son can max out at about 8 hours on a great day, but our norm is more like 4-5 hours on any given day. It would be difficult to contend with a return time 4+ hours later. Maybe they will only let DAS holders get one SW land ride return time per day or maybe they will tweak the system so that if you do get a SW land return time 6 hours away, you will also be able to get other ride return times in the meantime, rather than being locked out of everything until that SW return time comes around. It seems like they have a plan in place to make these rides accessible under a different set of rules than normal.

See I read it very differently because he specifically mentioned make a wish. Yes I think they will do their best to accommodate your "average" disabilities, but I don't see DAS being accommodated with special park time in the way that more severe disabilities might be accommodated. Iger said there would be "provisions for very, very special access"....that's far beyond your average mobility aid user and DAS holder.

I will be there opening day and use the DAS I am hoping to get a return time and if it is a few hours away go back to the hotel and hid in my room ( staying at pop ) I am hoping they will let me back in even if the park is closed due to capacity I do not want a less wait time as I like to be as close to other guests as I can manage
