No fastpass for TSM??????

Just read this, but not sure if Disney has rethunk the no fast pass since it's opening.
So is the best way to avoid lines to go straight there at rope drop?
Or can you stop and get a Soarin' fastpass first?

Personally, I believe that waiting in line at opening for DCA to get to TSMM is still part of the total wait time for TSMM. I wouldn't leave DL early to get to opening of DCA when DL still has shorter wait times. Morning at DL during the summer is the best time.

Since I have to wait in line anyway because of no FP, I would leave DL around lunch (after picking up a FP to something), go to DCA, pick up a FP for Soarin, and then go TSMM in the afternoon. That's just me. Other people may have different ideas.

I think I will steal your strategy, Pink Budgie. I certainly agree with your logic.

I personally don't mind that it doesn't have FP. I went to WDW for a 2-day trip last summer...the first day we hopped between Epcot and Hollywood Studios but of course all the FPs were gone for TSMM by the time we got there, and we certainly weren't going to wait 90-120 minutes to ride it. If they hadn't had FP, the lines would have been shorter and might have even been tolerable for me--I certainly wouldn't have minded braving a 30-40 minute wait to go on a new ride.

For people who can't stand waiting for 30-40 minutes, I think DL does usually offer Single Rider--back when I went WDW offered it sometimes, but not when we visited it.

If you really want to avoid waiting for TSMM, it's not possible. Like PinkBudgie said, if you get to DCA early enough that when the park opens you walk right on to the ride, you will have waited a lot of time before the park opens. It depends on whether or not you want to wait when the park is open or when it's not.

The lines at DCA rope drop are very small compared to later in the day. However, later at night the lines drop slightly as everyone leaves the park to head over to DL in the evening (which almost always is open later than DCA).

If you do choose to spend your morning at DL and head over to DCA in the afternoon, you could be looking at lines for TSMM about 30-45 min long, depending on crowd levels.

That is very interesting. I wonder if that is why they decided not to have a FP for that ride. FP would change the whole strategy for it. They do have single rider (don't know if it is always or just sometimes) but I never want to do it because I like playing with someone I know.
