No Fantasmic! Now what'll we do?

We planned our first family trip for April 18-23. Booked the room for Saturday night to increase our chances of a Fantasmic show (advise from friends). Now we discover it is dark 'till June.

Question is, what should we do instead since we will not get into the park untill later afternoon? We have a DD12, DD7 & DS5. Thanks for any ideas.

Fantasmic isn't the only thing in Disneyland!

If you bought passes for enough days to include the Saturday entrance, then enjoy your time in the park! Ride some rides, have a monte cristo at the Cafe Orleans, watch the fireworks later on. The park is gorgeous at night, so soak in the magic and beauty!

If you weren't planning on entering DL that day, you can take the fam to Downtown Disney for supper and sightseeing.

I don't understand your question. You are arriving on Saturday. There is no Fantasmic. You say you are not getting into the park until later in the afternoon. IF Fantasmic were showing, it would be at 9pm and 10:30pm. What would you do until then? Do the same now without having an end time deadline since there is no Fantasmic. There are rides, shows, shops, fireworks, scenery, music, and so much more at the Park to enjoy.

I guess I should have asked if there were other main attractions that we should check out. If it were not for Fantasmic, we would have not arrived 'till Sunday and stayed 'till Thursday. I'm sure we will have lot's to do

On a Saturday, which is likely to be busy, you can plan to do things that don't usually have long wait times, explore the park, do fun stuff. First thing is go grab a FP for a ride later that night. Watch the parade. Then maybe check out Pirates of the Caribbean (usually not too long a wait), Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, or It's a Small World, etc. Or take a train ride around the park-- great relaxed way to see the park!

I understand about being disappointed, though! Especially after having changed your plans especially.

I'm sure you'll have a great time, regardless!

I would try to see the fireworks on Saturday night.

There's always the chance that the fireworks could get cancelled, so it's always better to try to see it your first night.

Also, the Remember...Dreams Come True fireworks is an excellent show and it's closing this spring. It would be nice to see the fireworks show twice.

I agree about seeing the fireworks that Saturday Night. Its your first night so you can just soak it all up, enjoy the fireworks and then be ready to hit the parks and rides the next day. As somebody said, due to winds and DL being inside a city, its not unheard of that they are cancelled. So at least you increased your chances of seeing those since Remember is only happening on the 18th and 19th of your trip. Had you not come in early, you would have only had one chance to see them your whole trip. And they are so worth seeing! See them by the castle the first night for the full affect, then you can see them back by Its a Small World the next night if you want to avoid some of the crowds that congregate in the hub area.

I so understand your dilemma. Your friends gave you good advice, but like most things regrding a Disney trip, its always subject to change! But I am betting that you'll be glad you had that extra night. No matter how long my trip, I never am ready to go home or never feel like I got enough time.

Thank-you for the good advise! We were wondering where to watch the fireworks from. Being our priority for those two nights, what time should we "get into position" to ensure a good spot for 9:25?

We like to watch the fireworks from Main Street. Some people like to be as close to the castle as you can get, we don't. I think that's like the front row of the theater, which is too close imo. We to be a bit closer to the castle than the Photo Supply Shop and dead center of Main Street, left to right. From that location you get the statue of Walt and Mickey with the backdrop of the castle and the blossoming trees framing it all. It's pretty magical.

I have found if you ask 5 people where the best place iis to watch the fireworks, you will get 5 different answers. The above is our favorite.

Fireworks for sure. It's how we'll be spending our first evening in the parks. First lots of rides, then fireworks!

Anyone know when Remember is going away? Sure hope we can get it in!

i will be there at the same time! it is getting so close.

i agree about the fireworks. (we don't actually get there till sunday, though.) when i was there in 07 the fireworks show was really amazing, and i would jump at the chance to see their fireworks more than once!

i was disappointed about fantasmic at first but then i realized that we will just have to go back after this to see it.
