"no expiration" upgrade question

We are leaving for WDW in 3 weeks and just purchased a 10 day hopper pass here at our local Air Force Base (My DH is military). We understand we can upgrade our tickets to "no expiration" when we get to WDW. We only plan on going into the parks for 5 days. Member Services (we are DVC members) told my husband that we could buy the "no expiration" for the remaining 5 days only. However, I talked to a CM who told me we had to purchase it for the entire 10 days (of course we don't NEED the no expiration for all 10 days).
I'm guessing that Member Services is correct. Is this correct?!!?

Also, how does this work? If we did not purchase the "no expiration" upgrade, when would the ticket expire? 10 days from date of purchase? 10 days from the first use? Just curious!

You need to purchase the no expiration option for the entire 10 days. It's based on the original ticket not the days left on it.

They expire 14 days from the first use.

A 5 day expiring pass with hopping costs $255. If you used 5 days of the 10 day pass with hopping the last 5 days represent $12. more so adding non-expiration for $138 is like ending up with a second 5 day pass with hopping for $150. (You cannot add more days.)

If you also add water park fun for $53, the non-expiration costs the same and the 10 day ticket gives you six of those visits which will not expire even if the park days are all used up first.
