I just got off the phone with MS and tried to make a ressie for 2 br for Oct 25-30, Nov29-Dec3 orDec6-10 and nothing was available at any DVC Resort. In fact there was nothing any size available at OKW. I have been member of DVC since 1994 and have never called and been unable to find something available. It sure seems strange to me at this time not able to make a ressie when all the headlines talk about how bad things are. I guess I'll use the money I can't spend at Disney and buy some stock.

I started a threas similar to this a few days ago. I've been with DVC for 4 years (rented for 3 prior to that), and I noticed the last 1 1/2 have been as you said. Difficult to get in during times that I had no problem with in the past.

I hope the trend does not get worse

Sorry to hear you cannot get a room at any of those times. Based on the large crowds we experienced the first week of August this summer, I think Disney is doing just fine. We were told to expect smaller crowds, less traffic on the roads, etc. due to people not taking vacations. But, at least that week at Disney, I think everyone DID take a vacation. And not everyone was from England or Canada, either, although some were (taking advantage of the good exchange rate).

Wow, not even SSR? I just called and checked Nov. 9-15 & Nov. 16-22 and there was nothing available in a 1 bd or studio except a 1 bd at SSR.

That's what surprised me that there was nothing available at OKW or SSR. Those 2 have always had something available in the past.

Do you think that all of the developer points given out as incentives recently has had an affect on getting reservations, or is it just the growth of DVC? It is my understanding that the latest incentives are to be used at SSR, but prior to that other incentives allowed you to use them anywhere. Maybe these are being used before expiring and causing rooms to be harder to find?

I personally think DVC rented out some rooms to non-DVCers for the Food and Wine, free dining, holiday periods, etc.
If we hadn't booked by 7 months, they wanted the rooms to turn a profit.
Just my thought.:confused3

I think that is true. Also I think that this time of year - once quiet - has become VERY popular with DVC members - DVC members like F&W and the like the Halloween party. Plus, DVC members have committed to their points - they've already paid for them. So DVC occupancy is going to be less impacted by an economic downturn than CRO reservations.
