No early Aug. free DDP = FREE COUNSELING

WDW will be offering free counseling for those of us who will not receive free dining for our early Aug. vacations...

In keeping with the trends of society, free counseling will be offered every morning while on property.....Just see a cast member at the front desk.

This will help you cope with the trauma of "NO FREE DINING FOR YOU"!!
LOL!!!!

:lmao: :thumbsup2

Now you dont have to stare at the menu and look for the most expensive meals....just go cheap early....no stress.......

:rotfl2: :lmao: Please tell me you plan on writing a trip report when you get back. I like your style. Enjoy your beans on toast. ;)

I would be very appreciative of the counselling. Can someone tell me if there are Drs/Counsellors in my area who would offer this service????

(Im going no matter what...but it would really have been a nice savings for us:sad1: )

I can do one.
I read some of yours, wow.......I dont have that much time today, tomorrow or next week to read all of it!!!!!!LOL

We will enjoy some off site restaurants.....Joe's crab shack, Uno, TGIF, Applebees etc. NO MCDONALDS.......I WONT DO IT.

We are thinking of going to Cocoa beach for a few days, did you like the hotel you stayed at?? We will prob. rent DVC points for Sun-Friday.
Aug. 10-17, 2007

I will be eating ice cream with DJM99 right down the middle of Main street USA!!!!

I would much rather have a discount. My 3 kids don't appreciate good food. They would rather have a simple salad, burger, chicken etc. They would be antsy sitting in a sitdown restaraunt everyday. Besides, now that free dining is in late August, it should help keep crowds down in early August! I'm still crossing my fingers for a last minute discount code so I will really save money. We don't spend a whole lot of money for food because we bring groceries and eat two meals in the room and one counterservice in the park.

By the way, if they don't have a discount when I go, I won't hold it Personally against Disney, just like I don't hold it personally against Walmart if they don't have my item on their famous roll back prices:)

I'm hoping there were many who either a) decided to go when there is free dining and booked/changed their reservations or b) decided to not go at all and canceled their early August reservations leaving a few less people in the parks to make it nicer for the rest of us :goodvibes

Particularly now that the southern schools are going back in session later in August.

I wish I would have known this. No one sent me the memo. Dang!!!:rotfl2:

We got lopped off the other end. But we'll be undergoing counseling at
DISNEYLAND!!!! We got cheap air fare. We go where we can get a bargain. And this year during all the various times we can go on vacation, that was it. We got a cheap air fare. We can use our reward points for food and tickets.

DS & I will be at WDW 8/10-17
we tried the free dining last Aug for 3nights - it was stressful trying to make the best use of the plan and it was definately too much food!

So I think there might be a PIN code for our dates, but I doubt any general public discounts. I hope I'm wrong as I highly doubt Disney will send PIN codes to those of us already booked!

I joined AAA and saved $228. Worse case senario: something better comes out and I save more money and have a AAA membership. :teeth:

Analyze it to death, it is called a joke!!!!!! I'm not mad at anyone. I laugh every day......no resentment here.....just poking fun at our society......Disney owes me nothing.
Come on laugh a little, it will be all right....

I got the joke, but I swear. there are a bunch of posters on other threads "whining" Disney doesn't love me..... I haven't seen the annual "I didn't get a discount so I am NEVER going to Disney again post" (I figure those posters eventually just register under another name so we won't KNOW they calmed down and changed thier mind....:rotfl: ) I think Disney may really have to offer some of the counseling.....

Personally if most of you are like me, we REALLY don't need to consume a gazillion calories a day so maybe it's a blessing we didn't get it. (Otherwise I think Weight Watchers might want to consider a partnership with Disney.... hmm... just a few days after you get home from "eating your way around the world" they could send out "free registration cards" with Mickey saying "come join us at Weight Watchers" :rotfl2: Or Disney could form it's own program "Dieting with Minnie" )

I agree alot of peopl are whining........I think you put alot of facts into a emotional issue for some people......You are right those people with free dining are going to get fat fat fat.....We had it last year, yes it was awesome....but it is too much food. You just dont need that much!!
They should have park aerobics everyday at the flag raising ceremony!!

I think what bothers me the most is that the FD wasn't offered to everyone for the same time period. I don't have a problem with Disney Visa holders getting first dibs, just think the offer should have been the same for everyone. OK, i'm over it, time to move on.

I did qualifiy for the dining but I have to agree with you. It doesn't matter what anyone says, free is better than paying. That's a fact. You can choose to eat where you want to eat, you can eat dessert or salad every day but everyone has to eat and free is better than paying.

I also agree that the offer should have been the same dates for everyone, UK, bounceback, general public, Visa. A certain number of rooms at different times until there were no more but the dates should have been the same. Our original plans were for a different week but we managed to adjust them. Next year when I go back to teaching, I won't have this option.

I'm hoping for some sort of magic for everyone who wants/needs it.

All guests on a single reservation have to purchase dining (or none) but there isn't any reason why some of your group can't purchase dining. I assume you're on different reservations. Those guests who don't purchase dining will just have to pay out of pocket for their meals. Are you planning on skipping TS meals?

Disney offers discounts to sell rooms during slow periods. Since when is the summer a slow season for Disney? Particularly now that the southern schools are going back in session later in August.

Those guests who booked "on spec" are partially responsible for Disney deciding they don't need to offer free dining in early August.
I highly doubt that this affected Disney's decision on what dates they chose. You over estimated the "power" of the message boards. I was told by a very kind CM that Disney does not create patterns. They do not want the public to expect or anticipate what they are going to do. Very smart marketing. We are booked before the dining. I bought the plan I think its a great deal. Yes, free is better but it is still a great deal. We work the points so we can use doubles at CRT and Hoop De Doo.

I was also told that we should check back that there might be something else coming early August.

Very well said, I think the dining plan is a great deal also. We paid for it before it became free because you do save a lot, I think 40%. I believe there will be something in early august, there was last year and we didn't even go last year, but I remember reading it. I think that it has a lot to do with patterns also. I think next year it will probobly not be free dining, but another promotion.

Unless the CM was high up in management, and if so he wouldn't have talked to you, the information you got wasn't any better than the information that's available on the internet.

This is the third year Disney offered free dining, to the general public, for most of September and part of August. Sounds like a pattern to me.

The dates were fine tuned to match projected occupany. Prior bookings, some on "spec", are partially responsible for the start date of free dining.

Southern schools are going back later. My guess is this had more of an effect on bookings then just guests booking on "spec" hoping for free dining.

Most of us were surprised free dining was repeated once. Other promotions provide discounts. Free dining has guests paying more.
