No DVC Resort availability yet again?!?!?!?!?

FYI to those interested, I called DVC again today and low and behold 2 of my top 3 choices were now available! I guess sometimes things do work out no matter when you book things. Thanks for all your input! :)

Where and when did you get in? After reading your post I'm on hold trying to check my dates!

It is harder to make ressies... I booked 11 months out at BCV for this year's Food and Wine Festival... I have no idea if we're going to go then but I made my ressies to make sure if we did, we had a spot close to Epcot AND before our AP's expire.

First and foremost tfc3rid - this is not a slam or a personal attack please do not through flames as my flame suit is currently at the dry cleaners. :)

I thought your post interesting in that you have reservations for rooms and you don't even know if you are going. In theory, if all the owners did this for their home resorts at 11 months out, there wouldn't be anything available for people who wanted to stay at somewhere other than their home resort. I wonder how many people are, in fact, doing this.
What does your timeline look like for deciding to reschedule or cancel? Is it between 6 and 3 months out? or between 3 and 30 days?

Just curious. :)

Count me as another member who makes a reservation 11 months out without being 100% certain we are going to use it. We usually cancel the dates we will not use as soon as we know what is happening with regard to our airfare and alway more than 30 days in advance.

I don't see this as taking anything away from any other member. Every member at my home resort had the same opportunity to book this reservation. When I cancel, another member will be able to book the room (but it may be because they have been on the waitlist).

The flexibility in cancelling DVC reservations is one of the reasons that we find DVC works for us. Without it, we would have to re-think our ownership.
