Just curious, my son and a buddy just got back from WDW and when they were there they asked if they could go in to The Biergarden and just have a couple of drinks and listen to the music and they were told no. Is that not allowed or do you think the restaurant was full? :confused3

Isn't it a buffet restaurant? Normally anyone seated in a buffet restaurant has to pay for the food. I'd particularly expect that to be the case in a restaurant that offers live entertainment. Part of the cost of the food pays for the live entertainment. I guess the restaurant could have a cover charge but they probably want to have the tables available for guests who want to eat.

Since there is not a bar, so to speak inside, dining only (though you can have drinks), I wouldn't think they would let you just go and hang out. Especially since you can get drinks outside and snacks. They have great beers and other things right outside..so no need to go inside just for drinks.

His buddy is German and likes to listen to the music and watch the show. They have eaten inside before but this time they just wanted drinks. :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

Nope, the drinks alone do not pay for the band. The buffet helps cover that cost. Sorry the friend didn't want to pony up and pay for the food, but the rule certainly makes sense.

I think the band used to come outside and play several times a day, so it used to be possible to get a beer and sit outside and watch them.
