We have two rooms booked October 13-20. Our deposit is due August 29 but we were really hoping for some type of discount to make our trip more affordable. We fall in the blackout date for free dining and haven't read about any rumors for room discounts to be released on DIS. Should we pay our deposit and hope for a room discount to come out? Have there been any rumors to any additional October discounts??!!

It appears that if we change dates to the following week to take advantage of FD, all the deluxe and moderate hotels are booked solid. Does the Gartner Symposium really draw that many people and make the hotels and parks crowded or is it just like any other conference that is booked at Disney? I know groups are booked every week at Disney.

So, my question is should I plan on going the week of October 13th despite not having a discount or should I change to the week of October 20th to take advantage of free dining but more crowded (sold out) parks and hotels due to the Garnter Symposium and Free Dining overlapping??

We are arriving Oct 14th and I was hoping for a discount also. All I have been able to get is 10% off with a email code that was sent back in April. I know you can also get 10% off with AAA if you have that.
The Gartner Symposium will make it crowded at the Epcot resorts. I have heard they do not make the parks crowded.
I checked on maybe changing our stay to the week after and it is booked up. We are sticking with the week of the 14th because it seems there are a lot of reservations for resorts and dining still available, hoping that means less crowds.

well if you are paying rack rate regardless for your rooms you might as well change your week and at least have your food covered. I wonder as Gartner gets closer if some rooms will open up. They probably have blocks reserved and if they aren't used they will be released back into Disney's inventory

On the Symposium website everything shows sold out for them to choose from except
AKL
CBR
WL
POR

Rumors are saying that AP and FL discounts are coming in about two weeks. However, I don't have a high confidence that most of Oct will be covered. No word on GP discounts but by the time those come out, Oct will almost certainly be left out. That's what happened last year.

Gartner draws people to the resorts and the Boardwalk area - not the parks! You can check the crowd calendars at Tp and Easy WDW to confirm this. But really You won't even notice them in the parks. If you're not happy with rack rate, and if the Dining Plan works for you, then you should consider switching.

Most of those are sold out for 2013 too. Don't count on them freeing up many rooms.
