No Day But Today- FINAL post on page 40!

Crystal, another great report :thumbsup2 ! I look forward to your writings every morning, and log in to the Dis with a link to your trippie so I'm always so happy when you post another installment. However what is it with other peoples souvie purchases because I always ache when I see what people bought! I love all your stuff! I have to wonder, was I sleep walking when I was in the World this past December :confused3? ! Your Everest book! I want it, pass it here ;).

Seriously, there was another thread back before my trip where people posted photos of their purchases, Gosh I wish it would have become a sticky! Anyway there was a gal who had picked up these beautiful handmade mugs in the AK, and they even sold vases and bowls too. They looked kind of tye-dyed, if that makes sense and I just wanted one super bad so when we went to the AK I looked high and low, dragging my dbf with me in all the shops, but alas they had none left :sad2: . I kills me now doubly because when we went to the AK resort for our Boma dinner, I scoured the gift shop there too. Probably walking right past the Joe book and since it is a limited edition it may be gone by our next visit. Grrrr!

Anyway don't let my envy keep you from posting more of your cool souvenirs!
If you can remember it would be cool to know how much something cost too because then I can kick myself and think 'I coulda had that! :goodvibes

It's so nice to see that someone else loves AK as much as I do. We seem to be a rather rare breed sometimes!

P.S.
I kicked butt on pop quiz #2. You owe me a dole whip, missy.

Yay for Animal Kingdom! I think it's now tied with Eppycot as my favorite park. I never get all the people who say it's just a half day park!

You can claim your dole whip on the dates listed in my signature! :thumbsup2

I too aced the pop quiz. But you can keep your dole whips :crazy2: Any chocolate mousse in your bag? I'll have some of that (although I hear it doesn't travel well)

Oooh, Chocolate mousse. I have a grand ambition to try every chocolate mousse at WDW, although I doubt the France one can be beat!

I love the postcards - I love all that vintage looking stuff.

And if you ever want some wonderful high-quality loose tea and DON'T want to spend a fortune, check out adagio.com - I highly reccomend the Earl Grey Bravo, Assam Melody and Cream. Great stuff. Any money that does not go to Disney goes there. :rolleyes1

More loot! More loot!

I almost bought a teapot from that website a while back! I really should give up tea and get a less expensive habit! But so yummy!

And Kungaloosh! I, too, want to spend money on silly AC stuff. :thumbsup2

There's a Colonel watch on e-bay... for $80! :scared1: I love the AC, but for that price, it should at least be Emil Bleehall! :rolleyes1

I wonder if making some kind of "Kungaloosh!" t-shirt on Cafepress would be considered anti-copyright?

Crystal I bought that great Everest book last May at the gift shop at EE. I thought it was a "limited edition". Maybe its all sold out at EE. So glad you found it at AKL. Isn't it cool?

Our world is in a sad state if a limited edition Everest book doesn't sell out in 6 months! It's such a nifty book, I'm surprised more people haven't snatched it up!

I was really hoping they would have a DVD of the show that was on Travel Channel about Joe's Himilaya trip to resarch the ride, but the book was a good 2nd choice!

Crystal---I love the new "ad" for your upcoming trip (as well as the last one). How do you do those?

Take one night with too much time on my hands, add Paint Shop and a few photos, and voila!

We're trying to come up with a nifty design for a Disneyween t-shirt, but no luck there yet!

I remember that thread! I don't know what it is about looking at other people's shopping, but it fascinates me! I was worried people would find this part of the report boring, but I thought I'd share anyway!

I'll try to remember to add prices from now on! Here's the list so far!

-The pins were all your basic pin prices, between five and eight million dollars each. Well, except for the skull trading pin- they let me add that one on for $1 for spending over a certain amount.

The Safari scrapbook was $18, which I think was a pretty good value. If you go by your basic scrapbook store prices, there's about $5 worth of paper and at least $5 worth of stickers.

The set of postcards was $12. It feels a little overpriced, but I guess that at the standard Disney .60/each, that's $6, and then $6 for the box? A bit high, but not too bad.

The Everest patches were $8. Not bad for 6 of them!

The journal was around $20-$25. I can't find the reciept! It's leather, though, so very reasonable

The Everest book was $14. It's a teeny tiny book, so I'm a little surprised it was that much, but then it is limited edition. Plus, you guys all know I would have paid twice that happily!

Jack was a steal at about $10. Worth every penny!

I'll do my best to post more of them today!

Crystal,

Did you happen to see that, on ebay, there is a new Kungaloosh 2007 pin up for auction (item #290090842782). Apparently, it will be a limited run of 750 and will ship after March 20. It has Mickey and pals dressed up as the AC characters, and Pluto is your dear Emil...

Just thought you might like to know --
Care

P.S. Love your new Disneyween tag.

Crystal,

From one scrapper to another I think you got a great buy on your stuff. I LOVE the postcards  and will have to look for them next trip. Right now I am trying to finish up my 05 book:headache: -there is just too much to choose from!

Awesome Disneyween promo.

I can't wait for that pin! I heard about it a while ago from another AC fan- I'm so excited anytime there's ANY AC stuff! I'm guessing I'll have to do it via e-bay, since if there's any justince in the world, it will sell out quickly! :)

I think we should organize a DIS scrapbooking lock-in. Make all of us scrapbooking procrastinaters (scrastinators? proscraptinators?) bring our photos and supplies, and lock us on Small World until we catch up on our old photos!

When you finish, you get a cookie.

I'm going to hold you to that if I wind up going in October! Right now I'm torn between spending my 20th birthday or Halloween in Disney. Heck, I might as well just buy an annual pass and do both.

BOTH! Both is always the answer!

I spent my 20th birthday at the WL. Good times!

My cat is currently holding me hostage in bed (I'm required to spend at least 86 hours per day here snuggling with her), but as soon as I'm allowed to get up, I'm going to break out the camera and try to photograph the rest of my stuff so I can wrap up this section! (And then figure out how to conclude this thing!)

Decided to check in before Daylight Savings kicks in, and happy to see that this thread is still going strong.

So for us Halloween vacationers I have to ask ... when do things transition towards a Disneyween Pre-Trip report (yes I know it's only March but Oct is just around the corner)

August-ish, perhaps?

My fellow pirates and I have been having some hilarious trip planning conversations, but I really don't want to make you guys sit through all of the planing neurosis for 7+ months!

Hello again!

A few more thigns that followed me home from this trip ;)

To continue the Animal Kingdom theme from the last update, here's my fabulous wooden giraffe from AKL!

giraffe.jpg

He's 2 feet tall, and was $, but I also spent $10 to ship him home.

He's pictured here with my two smaller ones from previous trips. LOVE it!

Also on the Animal Kingdom theme:

flags.jpg

Set of prayer flags, I think they were $5. They're small- maybe 5x5 inches, and there are 5 in each set. Available at the giftshop at the exit of Everest.

And rounding out the Everest section:

evstuff.jpg

The one on the left is a thermometer/magnet, and the one on the right is a picture frame- I just haven't found a picture small enough to use yet!

A few things from Japan:

fan.jpg

This fan was some crazy super cheap price like $3. (can't find the reciept now!) The CM personalized it by writing my name on.

catplate.jpg

This cat plate comes from the sushi dish area of the Japan gift shop. It's maybe four and a half inches in diameter? $4.50. I don't eat sushi, but I thought it would be cute to put cat treats on!

One thing that I have to buy every trip is a Lucky Cat from Japan:

cats.jpg

This year's lucky cat collection

Each color is supposed to bring you a different kind of luck. Here's the list:

The white cat will bring you good luck and happiness

Black will protect you from illness and evil spirits

Gold will make your dreams come true and bring you good luck in wealth

Orange will bring you good luck in your travels

Yellow will bring you good fortune in wealth

Purple will bring you strength in artistic sense

Pink will bring you romance and new friends

Silver will bring you patience

Red will bring you good fortune for business, good health for child

I noticed that now besides the lucky cats I've always gotten, they also sell sleeping lucky cats! I think I'd rather have the cats that are working for my luck to be paying attention, though! ;)

According to the tradition, you're supposed to "retire" the cats after a year and get new ones. Thus, I've got a pretty big collection now! ($2.50 each)

cats2.jpg

A close-up of a cat

Something else that I seem to buy every trip is a pair of my favorite Mickey earrings. I love them, but I seem to lose one out of every set! But each time I buy new ones, they seem to be slightly different color or size than my old ones, so I can't wear the singles as a set!

earrings.jpg

My beloved Mickey earrings

I picked up two pairs this time so that hopefully I'll end up ok!

This picture didn't turn out well, but it's the best I could get:

wlmug.jpg

It's a Wilderness Lodge mug! ($12, I think). I can't think of anything else to say about it, really!

One thing I got this time that I've been wanting for a LONG time is a Mr. Potato Head from Once Upon a Toy!

thecrew.jpg

Mr. Potato Head is pictured here with his friends Yoda, Lucky Cat, and Crocky! (The white lucky cat is also from Japan this trip. $7)

Actually, while I was hunting through all of the parts, I decided that I needed both a Mr. and a Mrs, so I put one potathoead body in the box with the parts, and picked up a spare basic potato set, too.

The only problem?

The basic set came with arms and legs and all of the potato essentials, but I didn't pick up any extras!

And so sadly, I also present to you Mrs. Potato Head, the multiple amputee!

mrspotato.jpg

She's such a brave little potato!

I should do a "Feed the Children" type infomercial to raise money for new limbs for her on the next trip :thumbsup2

Crystal---You must have an all Disney home!

I can never keep with up with any of my Disney earrings as well. I buy those same kind, but in blue because that's my favorite color (geez I sound 12! favorite color?)

Yay, I love pictures of stuff from Disney!! You got me hooked on lucky cats from your last trip. I've bought them for everyone as gifts and I have a couple myself...of course, the day after I bought my first one, the water line to my ice maker on my fridge snapped and flooded my house. There was a water fountain spewing across my kitchen when I got home, just out of reach of the lucky cat in the window...so while my brand new laminate wood flooring was ruined, lucky cat lived to see another day....:lmao:

I really do love seeing pictures of the things that you buy...I never seem to see the same things and it gives me ideas for all the stuff I need to buy for my house!!!

By the way, I completely wouldn't complain if you started a pre-trip report for October...I'll be waiting patiently for it to start....

Crystal,

I loved your trip report! You have an awesome writing style and a great eye for photos.

AND - in addition to that - I even know where Kimberling City is!!!

I grew up in St. Louis metro area, went to undergrad at Mizzou - where I met my dear friend Kathy who was from Lampe - her mom owned the gas station/post office/only business in town in Lampe. And, I even had a short romance with a guy from Blue Eye. I think though that maybe his parents owned cabins in Kimberling City - can't remember precisely about that part. I think he used to tell people he was from Kimberling City because it was the closest big town to Blue Eye - does that sound right?

Anyway - Great to see your trip report - I'm going to beg my DH to read it to see your photos - he's got a new camera he wants to play around with during this year's trip.

Thanks for sharing your multiple talents!!!

Leah

Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

I just spent three hours working on my vacation video- it was finally about 75% done, and I was just getting ready to save it and take a break when movie maker froze! It's totally stuck, but I don't want to restart the computer, or I'll lose all my work! So I'm just going to go to sleep and hope it fixes itself while I do! :thumbsup2

Wow, it's funny to think of Kim City as "the closest big town" to anything! ;) Funny enough, I know the gas station/post office/only business in town that you're talking about! I pass it on the "drive of doom" to my sister's house.

Plans are coming along swimmingly for Disneyween! My main goal right now is to save up enough cash to rent the DVC points we need. Anyone wanna buy a kidney? Everyone keep your fingers crossed that I get a raise when I go back to work on Thursday! (And if I don't, I'll post my boss's phone number, and you can all call until I do! :rotfl2: )

I'm going to hold off until at least summer to start the pre-trip report for it (I say that now! ;) ), but we are doing some planning discussion on the message boards on my site, if you want to watch/comment. PM me if you want the URL- my old message boards got hacked, so I don't post the address publicly anymore.

Sorry for the end of this coming so slowly! My sleep schedule has been WAY screwed up lately, as in going to bed at noon and sleeping till 6pm, and I only have two days to fix it before I go back to work, so I'm a little nutty! But I am working on the video (humph!), and still have a few more treasures to post, as well as a final thoughts/hints & tips post, so stay tuned!

I think it's a great idea to show everything you bought after the trip is done. Would you mind if I copied this idea when my trip report is completed?

You picked awesome stuff to bring home. I LOVE the giraffe. How much was that?

i am going to be sad to see this TR end :sad1: ..i hope you get antsy and start the pre-trippy before summer....your audience needs to be fed :)
LOVE the giraffes by the way, wonder if i can sneak the big guy home in June with the bf noticing..hmmmm :rolleyes1

It's hard to miss the only building in Lampe! :rotfl:

Hope everything works out easily with your movie - I can't wait to see it!

Crystal! I've got the same giraffes! We were given a medium sized one as an Anniversary gift from AKL concierge several years ago, and each trip since then, I have to buy a friend for him! LOL! :lmao: I love them! I didn't know you could buy the prayer flags! I've got to put that on the TO BUY list for next time. Jordan loves those things, and I can see them hanging in her room! Thanks for posting your goodies! It's very cool to see what people like to get as souvenirs from their WDW vacations. :thumbsup2

I hope you got your video to save after last night. I know what it's like to lose hours of editing work! :sad2: I can't wait to see it!

You picked awesome stuff to bring home. I LOVE the giraffe. How much was that?

Copy away! :)

I think the giraffe was $35, and then I paid $10 extra to have him shipped home.

I forgot to mention it, but Target is selling similar items now! (Or they were last time I was there!) They had almost the same giraffes, but they were a diferent color of wood, and I didn't think they were quite as pretty. I was surprised to see they were the same prices as at Disney, too! Too bad everything at Disney isn't as cheap as Target! :)

An update:

I finally gave in and restarted my computer. I figured that if the program hadn't un-frozen after 12 hours and trying everything, it wasn't going to. So I kissed my long hours of work goodbye :(

So, I restarted, re-opened Movie Maker to try to get some of the same ideas down before I forgot them, and a window popped up. "An unsaved project was found. Would you like to recover it?"

WOULD I? Heck yeah!!!

It had auto-saved it! I was over the moon! I jumped up and did a little dance!

I can not tell you how flippin' happy I am!

It's about 75% finished, so I just need to add the rest of the stuff in, clean up the transitions so it's pretty, and then decide where to upload it!

No Day But Today: The Movie! Coming soon to an internet near you!!!

God bless auto-saving. I'm so psyched to see the video! :woohoo: I'm already storyboarding little video montages for my trip in May and we're still T [minus] 2 months.
