No Day But Today- FINAL post on page 40!

How much was the total for the Pearl necklace (including the chain and tax)?

To pick a pearl, the cost was $14.80. The setting I got for it was $18.64, so $33.44 including tax. Their chains were a bit expensive, so I just waited to buy the chain for it until I got home. The setting I got was one of the cheapest, but it was my favorite!

We did the last hayride of the season on Halloween night last year. The headless horseman's wife was riding along with us and videotaping the performance.

I didn't know about EPCOT's 25th ... that's my fav park so yet another bonus. My wish is that they'll finally take the hat and wand off SSE!

Do you have to reserve the hayride ahead of time, and does anyone happen to know the cost? Just in case we can tear ourselves away from the Club long enough to do something else Halloween related?

And yep, Epcot was born in Oct 82, so it's almost a year older than me! I hope they do SOMETHING to honor its big 25th- I haven't heard any plans yet, though!

I did have a gorilla pod in Dec but I really need the SLR one for my camera so I'm going to get that one. I was all set to stay at Pop but now you've got me thinking about studio at BCV.

I got the SLR gorillapod, too, just because I thougt my camera might be heavier than what they listed for the point & shoot model weight, and I was SURE it would be heavier when I stuck the lens adapter things on! I'd rather spend the extra $10 for the sturdier model than see my camera hurt!

I looooved BCV. I'm really starting to get addicted to staying in the Epcot resort area! Might try to get in there again for the Disneyween trip! And if you rent points, it's totally affordable!

Ya after our first stay at the BCV I had to return. Its sooo convenient to walk over to my "men in skirts" (Off Kilter in Canada).

I'll have to buy myself a pearl on one of my next trips

Thanks for your TR

You can purchase Hayride tickets from the FW Kennel only on the day you want to ride. They also sell tickets that night at the Hayride area near Pioneer Hall for any leftover spots. I think the cost was ~$15. I don't know how popular the other nights are, but I can tell you that we got to the Kennel about 15 min before it opened on Halloween morning, and there was already a small line of people wating for tickets. They have a sign up sheet and you can pick the hayride time on a 1st come/1st served basis.

We chose a later ride, and by sheer luck we happened to catch some of the Hallowishes fireworks while the ride was moving along the beach. The storyteller stayed in character and included the fireworks as part of the story.

(Psst ... hey ... how's that trip report coming along :confused3 )

Day 8

Oh, day 8 how hard you have been to write! You se, if I write you, then all that is left to write is day 9, and then it is OVER, which means I am really home, and my trip is over, and I’ve got nothing to do for the next eight months, one week and 4 days but work on planning my next trip!

…Wait a second, I only have eight months to plan? Dude, I need to finish up this trip report fast so I can get started! :)

Day 8 was a sleep in kind of day. I had a fairly extensive list of things I wanted to cram into my last day, but #1 on that list appeared to be “sleep until after 9am”. And so I did. Check one thing off the list!

When I finally managed to get out of bed, I went out to my balcony to say good morning to Epcot, and… it wasn’t THERE.

Who stole Spaceship Earth???

I was fascinated by how the fog had totally covered the giant golf ball- very cool!

About a half hour later, I was glad to see that it had been returned:

And now I’m going to throw in a bunch of Beach Club/BCV photos here, because I have eight zillion from today, and I think they’re very pretty, and that means you all have to look at them! :D

There’s no graceful way to throw a bathroom photo into the mix, really.

Oh my goodness! This just reminded me of the bathroom story!!! I can’t believe I nearly forgot!

I kept noticing that every time I went into the bathroom, the water in the toilet was a milky white. I figured it had to be some kind of built-in bowl cleaner- if you flushed it, the water would be clear, but after sitting for a while, it turned white. I was perplexed! But it was working fine, so I didn’t really care.

Until it stopped flushing.

I know the normal thing to do at that point is to call maintenance, but I work front desk at a hotel at night, which means I’ve done my fair share of maintenance. Actually, the most annoying guest I had at the hotel the whole year earned that title because of a toilet maintenance problem. (She called the desk at like 11pm, and refused to believe me when I said that we didn’t have a 24 hour maintenance staff. “What do you do when something breaks at night?” she asked. A valid question. “I can usually fix it.” Because seriously, it’s usually a lightbulb that needs replacing, or a TV that’s come unplugged or something. “Fine,” she snarled, “You can come fix this then.” And so I did. It took ten minutes of searching the maintenance room to find the parts, but I totally replaced some parts in the toilet tank for the evil wench. I was awfully proud, and I think that means I can now add plumber to my resume.)

So, where were we before my evil guest tangent? Oh! The toilet wouldn’t flush. The point of my tangent is that I now fancy myself quite capable of fixing just about anything that breaks in a hotel room, thanks to two years of things breaking, so I wasn’t going to call maintenance except as a last resort.

The toilet seemed to be clogged, but it didn’t *look* clogged. I tried to peer down the drain, but all I could see was white. So I did the very professional plumber thing and grabbed a plastic knife from the kitchen, and stuck it in there to feel around.

The knife tip came out white. What the heck?

After some digging around, I finally figured it out. Someone had flushed a bar of soap, and it had molded itself to the drain! For some reason, this totally cracked me up! I used the knife to break it up enough that it would actually flush, and made a mental note to add hotel plumber to my resume.

Wow. I just told a ten minute story about a toilet. This trip report is going down the drain! (And oh NO! An awful pun on top of everything else! Must recover now with photos!)

Um, quick! Be distracted by the pretty pretty Beach Club Villas!

I love that the BC has so many fun sitting areas! Just hanging out in them is becoming one of my favorite Disney things!

On my way out to the bus stop, I saw the DME bus, which made me a little sad, since I knew that tomorrow, it would be me getting on that bus to go back to the airport!

My first goal of the morning was to make my way over to MK to see Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial. I may miss a lot of things on this trip, but there is NO way I am missing Jack!

Which brings us to a pop quiz! What BIG thing has Crystal totally missed on this trip? Not done it at ALL? Let’s see who can guess first!

Finally Caught up on your report.......

:rotfl2: The the plumber portion:lmao:

So what dates are you going in October? Glad to see I'm not the only that plans a trip as soon as the first one has ended.

 I'm going back for October 28th - November 4th:banana:

Your Beach Club photos are awesome. And I LOVED your "toilet tale." It's good for a woman to be handy. :rotfl2:

Ding ding ding!! We have a winner!

I have NO idea how I totally missed MGM on this trip!!! As you probably know, I usually just go to whatever park I'm in the mood for each day, and it somehow just never came up! I'm going to have to make sure to go there first on my next trip!

We will be there at the same time this time, then!!! I think this trip is Oct 26-Nov 2. (Oooh, I just typed Nov 4 instead of Nov 2. Maybe it's a sign! ;) )

I HAD to fix the toilet where I worked just because the evil lady kept implying that she thought there was no way I would be able to fix a toilet, and I refused to let her be right! :rotfl:

OMG! Crystal, I just read your whole trip report (so far) straight through at work, and I LOVE it! I can't even remember now how I got here (possibly through my favorite online time-waster, the DIS Wedding boards - me likey!)... but the craziest thing has happened:

I've been on tons of solo Disneyland trips. I've been wanting/plotting to go to WDW for about six years, and I'd always assumed it would be a solo trip til I stumbled across a feller who likes Disneyland too (the day after I made a wish at the pond in Big Thunder Mountain - next time I'm wishing for a new car! :thumbsup2 ).

So now we're counting down the days til our November WDW trip, but....your trip report makes me wanna go solo! (In *addition* to going with him...heh heh....)

Your report brought back all these great memories of footloose and fancyfree days at DLR, going where I want for as long as I want, staying in fun hotels because they're more than just a place to sleep, eating zebra domes for breakfast - oh wait, that was you... I don't even know what a zebra dome is!

Sorry to ramble. What I meant to say was, "Trip report good! Make more!"

I need to make a stop at that Big Thunder Mtn pond! :thumbsup2

Do you know your Nov. dates yet? I'll probably be there the first few days of the month!

Thanks for reading! (And zebra domes are always a good choice for breakfast! ;) )

Okay, now I really have to try a zebra dome on my next trip. Having seen your photos and read your many mentions of them, I am curious -- and my curious mind demands satisfaction.

And yep, I'm thinking my next trip will be Jan 08... Would love to go and spend my birthday there (32, yikes!) but I'm not sure I'll have enough spending cash saved up in time. Are you likely to be heading there around then, as I believe it's my turn to buy you a Kungaloosh!

he really is a great guy! did you know he's friends with Stan the Man?

For some reason, that cracks me up! I now have this hilarious mental image of the "icons" of each resort hanging out together!

I would just like to say that I adore Rent and riding Captain Jack as well

Hooray! I happen to be wearing my Captain Jack t-shirt today!

Sorry for being so slow on the updates, everyone! I'll do my best to finish up day 8 tomorrow!

Just want to say-no need to rush through the next installment. I for one, am in no hurry for this trippie to finish! From lost cars and early morning animal sightings to the knife wielding toilet cleaner, I loved it all.:rotfl2: :thumbsup2 :surfweb:

I just have to say, I finally made it...... to this point of your trip report anyway and have enjoyed it immensely!:thumbsup2

I've become another Crystal Trip Report fan! Thanks so much for the great writing and fantastic photography. I just love how pictures pull you into the TR writer's world! And your AKL photos have solidified my decision to stay there during our December trip. DH & I are also big Adventurer Club fans, KUNGALOOSH!!:drinking1

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your TR (but not looking forward to the end!).:yay:

Day 8 Continues!

I caught the bus to the MK, where they were already advertising the upcoming Pirate & Princess parties (I’m so bummed these weren’t going on during my trip!)

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!

One of the first things I always have to do at MK is stop in the Confectionary. I never really buy anything, but it smells so good in there!

I checked the times guide, and saw that I had a lot of time to kill before the first Pirate Tutorial. I was starving, so I stopped in the Main St. Bakery to see if anything looked good. I decided on a cherry turnover, and at the last minute, ordered some kind of frozen latte thing. There were no tables free, so I carried my stuff across the street and sat out in front of Casey’s, which wasn’t open yet, so there were tons of free tables!

breakfast2.jpg

breakfast1.jpg

This picture with the castle in the background makes me happy!

The castle show was going on, and I finally got to hear the beginning of it! It seemed like up until now, I would only catch the end every single time!

I took one bite of my turnover and realized that my stomach was NOT in the mood for something so sweet this early. Some mornings sweet is fine, and other days it just turns my stomach! Luckily, coffee is always ok! So I sat sipping my frozen coffee thing, and it was YUMMY! I was so glad that I got it!

I didn’t want to waste an entire eighty dollar turnover, so I got a bag from the lady at the cart selling hats, and stuck it in my bag. A tip- fruity turnovers do NOT travel well! I basically ended up with a bag of cherries later!

I had about 15 minutes before the Tutorial, so I went to hang out in the Pirates area.

I never had a dole whip on this trip, either! Next time!

In my Stitch post before the trip, DISer hismattjesty requested some photos of Bwana Bob’s. So, here ya go!

This kid was having SO much fun with the water-squirting tiki guys!

There was a trivia question a few years back about the names of the 4 fountains in Adventureland. I’ve been looking as I passed through ever since, but the only one I’ve ever seen is this one:

fountain1.jpg

I figured that since I had time to kill, I’d look around some more. STILL no luck! So I found a place to sit and sip over by Pirates while I waited. What was RIGHT behind where I was sitting?

fountain.jpg

Fountain #2 finally found! 2 to go!

The sign quoted the wait at Pirates as 25 minutes, but during the time I was sitting there waiting, the line kept growing and growing and growing…

potcline.jpg

potcline2.jpg

FINALLY, they opened the other side of the ride, and the line moved MUCH faster.

I can’t wait for my October trip- to come over here in costume and take some photos as Pirates with my friends!

Coming up next- Everyone's favorite Captain!

I'm so loving your trip report. It's been four years (FOUR YEARS!!) since my last trip to WDW and nothing has gotten me more psyched for my May trip than your awesome photos!

P.S. Not to jolly my roger, but I have the kickbuttingest pirate outfit and it's a shame I don't have anywhere to wear it. Maybe I'll just have to pop down to Disney to pillage and plunder with the rest of ye pirate wenches! pirate:
