No Credit Card?

I have "plenty" of credit cards..and have been on a lot of cruises (not DCL yet) and I would actually like to use cash or check and am considering it for our September cruise. The reason being that on the past five cruises we have taken (RCCL, Celebrity, NCL) there were always additional charges made to my credit card a few days after the cruises ended. The charges were for 40 or 50 dollars and we were never sure what they were for. We guessed the last day charges, etc. but it always bothered me that it wasn't in the final itemization. And for a 40 dollar charge it just wasn't worth the time and phone calls to their headquarters to find out exactly what it was for.

If I pay with cash then its all over when I get off that ship. I know exactly what the total is. No surprises! And somehow, I think if I am actually forking over hard cash I will spend less. (HA!)

They charged you more after you got off of the boat?

That is scary. On our honeymoon cruise--we kept up with our charges daily and compared them to receipts. We had been double charge once or twice and were able to report it immediately (though it took a few days to clear). They had a final statement on our door--nothing knew. So unless you added more charges after a "final" statement--then you got taken. Don't ever assume that you are being charged correctly. Mistakes can and do happen. If they are in your favor--it will usually be your burden to make it right.

On that same cruise--some lady lost about $300...carried it around in her bra strap or something (she used the Q & A to share her misfortune). In any case--if you carry cash on the boat--have it applied to your on-board credit or leave it in the safe. Don't carry it around to be "dropped" or "stolen".
