I'm looking into our options for when our AT&T contract is up. Unfortunately we just signed 2 years in February and got new iPhone 5C's. We are just 2 lines so the cheapest option was to just keep what we had and get the new phones, but now I am regretting it because I know we could've done better. We paid $300 for our phones (mine is the 32gb) but in the long run it would've been cheaper to pay retail for the phones and have cheaper service. Anyway, we pay $125/month (unlimited texting, and we each get 2gb of data. I barely use any data but my husband uses just under 2g/month not sure how many minutes because we never touch them and have rollover) with my work discount. Where we live, the only towers we have are AT&T towers so it limits our options.

What pre-paid plans use AT&T towers? I'm looking for a bring your own phone plan hopefully since our phones should be good for a while, and we intend on keeping iphones.

Just checking into all of our options for the future, and still kicking myself for agreeing to 2 more years :)

Straight Talk uses At&t for the iphone. Not sure you can bring your own phone tho since iphones don't have a sim card...

I'm confused. iPhones have SIM cards as far as I know and straight talk sells them for $6.99.

I have an iPhone 4 on straight talk. Have been with them since 1/13. My sister gave me her old AT&T iPhone 4, I bought a SIM card and signed up for annual service (41.25/month). I'm very happy with the service.

My only problem is I want lte so I'm going to eventually need to shell out what to me is big bucks to upgrade.

Of course iPhone have a sim card. Yes, you can add your phones to a cheaper plan with AT&T as far as I can tell. See the note below.

So, for 2G data you would need to pay $40 + two $25 charges, or $90.

"AT&T Next savings: Compares Mobile Share Value plan pricing for a smartphone line on a no-annual-service-contract (AT&T Next, bring your own, pay full price, or month-to-month) to one on a 2-year agreement. The discount or savings will be $25 per smartphone line on plans 10GB and higher, and $15 for plans less than 10GB. Customers with smartphones on 2-year agreements prior to February 2, 2014, on a 10GB or higher plan, or prior to March 9, 2014, for 2GB to 6GB plans, are also eligible for this savings. If upgrading to a smartphone on a 2-year wireless contract, you are no longer eligible for the discount. To receive this monthly discount, upgrade with AT&T Next, bring your own smartphone, or pay full price for your new smartphone."

My bad. I've never had an iphone, but I asked my co-worker and she said they don't. However, she has the iphone 4 on Verizon, which apparently is the only one does not have one.

I think Cricket Wireless uses AT&T towers. I cannot vouch for how good they are, I have never used them myself.

I am waiting for my service to change over to H20 Wireless right now. I have an AT&T pre-paid go phone and H20 uses AT&T towers. I just had to get a SIM card. Amazon had them for .01 & free shipping from a phone store seller. I would imagine they get paid somehow? Maybe a referral for signing up a new customer? The cards are $10 on the website.

I'll pay $30 for unlimited talk/text and 500 MB data. Currently, I use about 500 minutes of talk, not sure on text and 450 MB data a month. I was paying $40 for 500/unlimited/500 MB with the go phone. I can't comment on service yet but I have had no issues with AT&T so hopefully won't with the new service.

Your two year commitment ends in the beginning of 2016? It's way to early to start looking...How much is the early termination fee? I don't switching now will save enough to justify paying the fee ($325? per phone) but it might be worth terminating after the fee goes down.

Oh I'm not trying to get out of my contract, just trying to research all our options since were limited to using services that use AT&T towers. We won't be making any changes until our 2 year contract is up.

You have several options for ATT pre-paid

1 ATT Go phone has unlimited minutes and texting with 2GB data for 60 dollars
500 minutes 500 texts 500mg of data for 40 dollars
250 minutes and 250 texts no data for 25.00 dollars

2 option go with Wal-mart ATT pre- paid which is unlimited minutes and texts 1gb data for 45 dollars

3. Straighttalk ATT pre -paid unlimited minutes and text and up. 2.5 gb data suppose be unlimted

4. Go with Cricket which now ATT now

The first -two option will have port number. All do is switch sim cards. I think. Can't really remember did mine a couple months a go

Third option you will have jailbreak your iphone

Last I would check out howardforums that have all kinds information on this kind stuff
