No Continental flights from Bristol after 6 November!!??

It seems that (at the moment, anyway) Continental will cease flights from Bristol after 6 November so, if you've booked flights after this date, you might want to check them!

Our return flight on 12 Nov is now showing as returning to Heathrow instead of Bristol I am taking a few deep breaths and considering our options before trying to get this sorted out!

I have only stumbled upon this after doing a dummy booking (as you do ) to check prices. Just wanted to post a heads up for anyone else who has already booked.

Hi Guys,

You now have the option of cardiff-mco via dublin with the new aer lingus- aer arran franchaise. Only 3 days a week direct from dublin though but if the prices are right it might be handy for you guys.

That sounds quite likely - I just wish they'd told me before I made our booking, which was fine when I made it, but now appears to have us flying out of Bristol and back into Heathrow! We're still looking into possible alternatives so that before we contact AirMiles (booking made through them) we have a clearer idea of our preferred outcome.

We fly FirstChoice from Bristol Direct to Sandford and Sandford back to Bristol(albeit with a quick touchdown in Manchester to refuel sometimes) We always fly on a Sunday because we like having the Saturday to do last minute rushing around to get ready. Not sure if they fly any other days (I think not) and I am not sure if they are competitive on price or Quality but we are happy with it.

I had no idea, however I just quickly checked and put in the date of 1st November to fly out of Bristol and the Florida Sandford option isn't there.

I should have thought and checked beforehand sorry I didn't think sorry.

Yes, we've also flown this route a couple of times and would happily do so again if they flew out of season (and for the right price .

I'm just about to call AirMiles and have a 'chat' about the change to our booking! Will let you know what they say.

Not as far as I know Jules, but tbh after the way they treated us in January I am going to have to be getting some seriously good deal in order to use them again!

I've spoken to AirMiles and I must say they couldn't have been more helpful

We now have various options to consider, so need to do some weighing up over the next few days. Fortunately, we hadn't got as far as booking any accommodation for the trip yet, so it is only the flights that we'll have to look at.

We flew this route last year and we are again in September we found it very easy and are very disapointed they are stopping it.

DF works on the golf course next to the airport they have been told that because they don't sell enough business class/1st class seats is why they are canceling them.

I think this is a ridiculous reason as the upgrade is a ridiculous price.

I have checked BHX and they are still showing up until March next year.

It's a shame that they are stopping the route from Bristol, I'm sure there are a lot of upset people out there who used it a lot.

Ah, this explains why I have been struggling to find a flight from Bristol in November, because there aren't any! Shame as Gatwick adds a lot of extra time/cost to the journey, well at least that will narrow down my search...

I Have to say we flew with Continental this Feb had a 29 hour delay and the whole experience with them was poor to the point we are at present taking court action. I know people that have flown with them and been very impressed but unfortunately our experience was not so good which was a shame as living in Cornwall to be able to fly from Bristol is a bonus.

Oh no! And two of you at that! I have only heard rave reviews on them and was planning to use them next year as they do some flights out of Glasgow/Edinburgh. What happened?

We've got this the last few times we;ve gone. Pretty good service. Must admit I wouldnt be happy if I'd already booked and they changed it to Heathrow.

Cardiff wouldnt be a problem though (bit of hassle changing in Dublin mind) because we live half way between Cardiff and Bristol airports anyway.

Yes, it is.

Well, we're all sorted now - we're still flying from Bristol (and back to Bristol!) by moving our flight dates to a week earlier than our original plans. DH and I are fortunate that we were able to switch the dates of our annual leave from work, otherwise we would probably have ended up paying a lot more for flights from Heathrow or Gatwick because the cheaper seats have all disappeared now for our original dates.

AirMiles were really excellent at helping us get the best outcome from Continental so, barring any further glitches, we can get back to planning our trip
