NO COMMANDO?? . . . .ARGHH! Can I do this?

Now, a note is in order here. When DH retired 6 years ago, he had been wearing a pager and carrying a cell phone that would reach him anywhere in the world for 35 years. He turned them in and swore that was the end of being accessible. So he normally refuses to carry a cell phone, and laughs at me for wanting to be available 24/7. But we had left my cell phone with him so he could get in touch with us if needed. THANK GOODNESS! :sad2: Here is the content of the call.

Me, “Hi, Honey, where are you?” DH “I’m here in the lobby, where are you?” Me, “We’re in the lobby watching for you. How long have you been here?” DH, “Oh, about 30 minutes.” Me, “Oh no, how did we miss you? I don’t see you anywhere, where are you?” DH, “I’m just here in the lobby.” Me, “What are you looking at?” DH, “The gift shop.” Me, “I’m looking at the gift shop, too. What does it say?” (Thinking maybe there is more than one gift shop) DH, “ Gift Shop, Wilderness Lodge.” Me, “ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I said Animal Kingdom Lodge!” DH, “No, you said Wilderness Lodge – I asked you twice.” :scared1:

:rotfl2: Sounds like something Waldo would pull! And I highly doubt Waldo could navigate WDW transportation! :lmao:
Glad everything turned out OK. :thumbsups2

Oupsie... I'm glad your DH made it to AKL and was not upset. That was very nice of you all to wait to be seated. How did he get there so fast? Did he cab it? So how are those Zebra Domes? I have heard so much about them...are they as good as people say?

Happy Memorial Day everyone. I will try to post the next segment tonight or tomorrow. I'm visiting with my other grandbabies this weekend! :goodvibes

Yeah, and normally he's not too bad about wandering off - not quite like Waldo! :rotfl:

The zebra domes were good but not fantastic. The chocolate wave at Coral Reef and the Kiluaea Torte at Kona were much better. And he actually just caught a lucky bus! :woohoo:

Well he got the lodge part right:rolleyes1

Yes, I guess you can't have everything!

Now at this time, we will never know whether I said the wrong thing or he heard the wrong thing. We had mentioned dining at Boma, but he skipped out on Boma last time we were here, so he didn’t really know where it was. The important thing at this point was that he was all the way on the opposite side of WDW, and we had an ADR in 5 minutes or so. So :cool1: And we didn’t even get in a “discussion” about who said what. We’re at Disney World, it’s all good!! :rotfl: .

I love the way at Disney, everything is okay!:grouphug: Glad you gave DH your phone! I pay alot for mine to have a phone, which he never has when I need to reach him. ;)

What a great day! And I'm so impressed with how well you guys work together. What a difference it makes when everyone's enabled to go at their own pace and split up as necessary, right?:thumbsup2

I feel your pain!! :rotfl2: Welcome!

I guess practice makes perfect! We're getting better at doing this. :goodvibes

Now that must be the secret to a great marriage "no discussion about what was said or heard!":rotfl2: So happy that you and your DD had some time alone. What a special time! We LOVED Boma too! Glad your DH had good luck in getting there quickly!:thumbsup2 Can't wait for more!:surfweb:

Awesome TFS

Maybe it is more that after 40 years of marriage we have finally learned what doors to open and which ones to keep closed! :lmao: I haven't always been that wise! :rotfl2: I did love the special times with all my special people!

We had ADR’s at 4:15 for Le Cellier, so weren’t planning to spend a long day at Epcot beforehand. DSIL’s parents were coming by for breakfast/brunch and a visit in the morning. I had been looking forward to a Flower Power Concert by the Nelsons after dinner, and whoever wanted to would stay for Illuminations. Before Le Cellier, we planned to walk around world showcase and see whatever struck our fancy. We also hadn’t made it to Innoventions yet, and there were always neat things to do there.

First of all, we wanted to get our special Visa character greet and photos this day, so DD and I had planned that we would wear our matching Mickey resort outfits. DH was NOT pleased – thought it was dorky to wear matching outfits AGAIN!! :rolleyes1 However, he wore it to make me and DD happy. :woohoo: So we all donned our outfits and they got ready to meet the in-laws in the food court for breakfast. DD suggested that Dreamy and I might want to go on to Epcot ahead of them so that he could be sure to get to ride his two favorites, Test Track and Mission Space again. :yay: We knew it might be tough to get TT in after the park filled in the afternoon. So we grabbed our breakfast early and off we went for another adventure.

I really loved this topiary.
epcotflowers.jpg

We scooted along and got our FP’s for TT and then went back to ride MS. Since we were riding the green side there wasn’t much of a line. Dreamy loved this whole thing and took it very seriously. I took a couple of pictures so he could remember the pre-ride part.

After the ride, we stopped for the flight simulation exercise, and then he was very excited to play the game. We sent ourselves postcards from space, too. Then we went into the gift shop and bought Dreamy a space name tag for his pin lanyard and a pin.
chrisspace.jpg

We started out of MS and my phone rang. It was DD wanting to know where we were – they had been trying to call us for a while because they were already at the park. Guess it’s hard to get through to space! :rolleyes1 Oops, I didn’t realize they were coming so soon. We met them back at Test Track, and got FP’s for everyone. Dreamy and I were going to go ahead and use our FP’s now, but when we got into the queue we discovered the ride was down, so turned around and left and caught up with the others. DD had gotten a stroller for Wild Child, as she seemed a little tired this morning.

Okay, now what? We decided this would be a good time to do our character meet, so we headed for Innoventions. Uh-oh, surely this wasn’t the line? Yes, it was. A lot of other people thought this would be a good time also. I got in line with the stroller and suggested DD and DSIL take the kids to play the video games nearby. DH went to find someplace to sit down. When I got close to the rope, DSIL rounded up the kids to come stand in line. It was still a 20-30 minute wait, and I was beginning to wonder if it was worth it. I was a little nervous because this was my idea, and I didn’t want to make everyone miserable waiting around when we could be doing something fun. And our TT FP time was coming up soon. (And remember that DSIL won’t use a late FP.) :guilty: DSIL’s eye started bothering him and feeling like he had something in it, and by the time we got up to the entrance he couldn’t stand it any more and went off to find a bathroom and see about it. Oh well, best laid plans oft go astray, (or gang aglee), so we had a picture of almost the whole group! ;) The characters were Mickey and Pluto, so the kids really liked that. Here are a couple of views.

With this over with, we went to try to find DSIL and get over to TT. DH said once was enough for him, so we sent him ahead to Mexico to sit and wait for us. After the typical miscues, we tracked DSIL down. He had extracted a small rock from his eye, but it was kind of scratched so he didn’t want to ride TT and irritate it with the wind. So we sent him along to catch up with DH, and DD, Wild Child, Dreamboy, and I headed for TT. It was back up and running, and we made it through quickly, much to Dreamy’s pleasure.

We met the guys in Mexico and visited the three caballeros. I had kind of expected a little more of this revision, but it was okay. I grabbed margaritas for DD and me and a coke for DH before we left the area! We took our time and meandered on through the world, with a stop here and there. We watched the wood carver in Africa, saw the train in Germany, watched some jugglers, and picked up a bottle of wine for later. Here are DH and Dreamy waiting for the drawbridge.

It was getting pretty hot by now, so we headed for Canada without too much delay. The crew didn’t seem to be feeling the magic this afternoon - WC was tired and droopy and Dreamy was cranky. :confused3 He even got mad at the drawbridge for holding us up while they took out the fireworks barges! The guys were kind of blah as well. I surely hoped that Le Cellier would live up to its reputation. :scared:

Don't you all look cute in your matching shirts/dresses did you make them or buy them? Can't believe how long the Visa queue was thank goodness I can't get a Disney Visa card (UK resident) as I would have to line up and get my free photo :rotfl2: I can't wait to try MS this year too as DD has finally said she'll ride with me

Hi, DJo. Actually, my DD bought them for her family last year at the online Disney store, and after we started preparing for the trip I saw them in the outlet so got them for DH and me for very little!
I think that was an unusual line! :confused3 The good thing was that we weren't rushed through the picture time. I couldn't help but think about all those waiting families, though, so we didn't tarry.
We did the tame version which was just fine. I have done the other one in the past, but can't remember it much! I would do it but no one else in the family would join me for various reasons, such as motion sickness, etc. Hope you enjoy it! :thumbsup2

I loved the matching outfits also! My DH would never ever never EVER let me get away with that :confused3 . I'm glad at least that I've "trained" him to stop wearing stupid tee-shirts with his fire department logo on them. They look so shabby.

Men! - What can we do with them? DSIL was a much better sport about it - he didn't even complain out loud! :thumbsup2

I hadn’t been able to get an ADR at Le Cellier for a table for 6 when I called, but they gave me two tables. They said if we got there at 4 when they opened for dinner we should be able to get tables close to each other anyway. Well very good, they got us a table for 6 after all. :woohoo: Things were definitely improving. We had a lovely meal with delicious and extremely well-cooked filets. DD and I had the mushroom filet, DH had the plain filet, and DSIL had the salmon, I think. Dreamy had the kids steak meal with the cheese soup, and WC had the pasta. Dreamy didn’t eat his soup so we got to taste it. It was okay, but not nearly as good as the lobster soup at Coral Reef. The desserts we tried were the double crème brulee, and the chocolate cheesecake. They were both good, but not really memorable. This meal definitely put everyone in a better mood, but it took over an hour and a half! This was our second favorite meal of the whole trip. The top meal is coming up tomorrow. ;)

At this point it was obvious that it wasn’t going to be a good idea to try to wait for Illuminations with the kids. We had promised them a return to the Figment play area, and we still hadn’t done much in Innoventions, so that seemed to be the best direction for them with an early return to Pop. I had my heart set on seeing Nelson, and their first show was at 5:45, which was only 10 minutes away. So we split up and I stayed for the show while everyone else headed for Future World. I loved Ricky Nelson when I was growing up, so I had a big soft spot for his sons. :cutie: I had heard a little of their stuff, but not for a long time. I hurried around to the arena and got there in time to get a pretty decent seat. It was a fun concert, with a large contingent of us “oldies” singing along with “all the old songs”, and some of their younger fans as well. :goodvibes
nelsons.jpg

After the concert I decided I really didn’t want to stick around for illuminations without the family, so headed back up front. This is one of my favorite views in Epcot.
epcotview.jpg

I realized as I walked that we were supposed to pick up our free photo at the front of the park before we left, so I tried to call DD to see if she was still in the park. This was one of our minor communication glitches, because I couldn’t get her, and I found out later that they were still in Epcot at this time. (Cell phones are great, but when it is noisy you can’t always hear them if they are in a pack, and sometimes they don’t go through in some of the rides. We discovered we were more apt to hear them if we used the vibrate first, then ring option. We also tried to check often if we were expecting to hear from each other.) Dreamy loved the robot building center in Innoventions, so they had hung out there for a good while while DH and Wild Child went back to Pop. Here is Wild Child with the robot they built for her.
laurenrobotsmall.jpg

I stopped by the Kodak center and picked out my picture and then caught the bus to Pop, arriving not too long after the rest of the crew. The kids had their evening swim, and then we filled the mugs and picked up some veggies and dips to take to the room. I opened the bottle of wine and we enjoyed our favorite TV shows and relaxed. Dreamy was watching his favorite show, the seven best things about Disneyworld, for the twentieth or so time in his room, and we were keeping up with The Office, Scrubs, and ER in the other. (We had to compromise – I gave up CSI in return for ER) :thumbsup2
The pace of six days of being busy was starting to catch up with everyone, so we turned it in pretty soon afterwards in preparation for another busy day.

Next: Blizzard Beach and back to MK

Just started reading it, and my DS 4 saw the pic of the kids with the Power Ranger, he's a big fan. We are planning a trip in July, can you tell me where the Power Rangers can be seen? Thanks for the trip report!

Well, you hit the nail right on the head a few times... the key to a sane family vacation is the compromise factor! Love hearing about your family; looking forward to more! :goodvibes

Hi! Glad to have you with us. The Power Rangers appear every day at several times on the Streets of America in Disney/MGM Studios. Pick up the daily schedule when you go in the park and their appearance times will be listed. They come roaring out in their car, then hop out and the different rangers stand in different places so you can take pictures with them. If you are there when they get there, you should have a chance to visit several of them. They don't stay too long before they hop back in the car and go off to fight the villains. :yay: Your DS will love them!
