No coffee on the bus!

While rope-dropping on our last trip, I was about to board the bus with my latte (with lid!) in hand and the driver said "no drinks allowed". I just kind of stood there stunned for a second, wracking my brain to recall if this had been an issue before...I could swear I've always grabbed a lobby coffee before heading out. After a moment he relented and said "ok, but you can only hold it, no drinking" and I SWEAR he watched me in the mirror to make sure I didn't drink it.

Am I nuts here? Is this a thing?
This happened to me and it soured my morning. My driver was pretty mean to me about it and scolded me in front of other guests as I got on the bus and he noticed it . Made me feel like a bad kid in class! I threw it out. Sorry you had to throw away a latte! Mine was just hotel room coffee haha.

I didn't throw it away, but it *was* cold by the time we arrived and I could drink it ;)

Trams are different than the bus. No standing, slower speeds and not driving in traffic.
From the link: "You can take non-alcoholic food and beverages like coffee on Walt Disney World Resort transportation at this time, including the parking trams. I do recommend making sure it has a lid on it, as sometimes they start with a jolt, and you don't want to spill. But, you should definitely feel free to bring your coffee with you to start your day."

Just to clarify: they're replying to a question about trams, but they do mention all WDW transpo.

Chat told me only closed drink containers, and you can take food as long as you clean up after yourself.

Interestingly it took chat 16 minutes to answer. Wonder what the accuracy percent is for chat vs. Plan Disney.

Wow, if a driver scolded me so bad it soured my morning I would have reported the interaction to Guest Services. Saying no is fine, scolding a Guest like a child is not.

I am referring to the training we get and the announcements that are on the bus. Both clearly state no eating or drinking.

Sounds like you got a powet trippy bus driver. Yes, it says it, however we've been on lots of buses with ppl drinking coffee/eating popcorn. heck in the mornings I've seen kids eating cereal with milk...never heard a bus driver say anything and it's never been an issue. Sorry you encountered a jerk.

Yep, just like those young CM boys in the parks that like to bark orders at guests where they can stand, lean, walk, etc. The guests are not usually doing anything wrong, but when those boys get their CM badge, they suddenly "feel the power".

I have taken my morning coffee (lidded) on a bus more than 80 times over the years and have never once had an issue. Although, one afternoon on the way back to the hotel, a mom gave her kiddo some goldfish crackers and the bus driver became completely unhinged. He was yelling at the woman and threatened to stop the bus. Her husband got right in his face when exiting the bus, called the guy a word or three and dared him to say something else. 😲
