No clock available from housekeeping

I'm surprised at how many folks are upset by the removal of these clocks.

I can't stand them because Mousekeeping does not check them to make sure the alarm is not set as part of cleaning the rooms. Nearly every time we stay, the alarm goes off hours prior to the time I need to wake up because it was still set from the last Guests.

Yup, I could check that before going to bed, but we forget to every single time out of pure exhaustion....

I have had the problem, too, of having the alarm set by the previous person in the room, plus the light of the clock drives me crazy. I resorted to unplugging the clock the last few times. Solved both problems. I used to use the tablet to cover up the front of the clock to keep the brightness from keeping me awake.

I won't miss them at all.

I've had that happen a few times at various hotels and motels and always kick my self that I did not check it. But it's just the first morning when it does happen which certainly isn't every trip. Without a clock I'll have to fumble around for my phone and check the time on it every morning for ever after at Disney.

As far as the light - many have dimmers and the ihomes definitely did. I don't like a bright clock so would always dim the ihomes down a couple of notches. Just perfect!

I actually removed our ihome from our bedroom three years ago. I hated the light (even dimmed), use my phone as an alarm and it took up too much space on the night table. I have not missed it at all. My husband missed it at first so I put it on his side of the bed. It took about a week for him to agree that it was no longer necessary. My teenage daughters removed theirs a couple of years before us.

Sorry to those of you who will miss them but I won't.

I thought they were being replaced by something with USB ports and outlets. I'm sitting in my room at BLT and we are clockless, but there isn't anything in their place.

(And I really do miss the clock! I hate having to run and grab my phone to check the time or carry it with me throughout the room)
I was at BLT a few days ago and I very much missed having a clock. I left BCV today to go home and was very happy the clock was still there (for now). I definitely glance often at the clock rather than take an iPhone out of a purse or wherever I left it.

There will be an adjustment period but this is a reasonable move, esp with usb plugs to charge from. Almost everyone has some type of smart phone that will provide the same features and much more. Plus the time will be right (for once) and you won't get other people's alarms.

But it would be nice if they actually put the charging stay in thing in when they took the clocks out.

We are at AKV Kidani and I checked with the front desk about the status of the clocks in the villas. The CM confirmed that clocks are no longer listed as a standard in-room amenity, but she said that they had clocks that could be given to guests upon request.

We were in our villa for over a day before I even noticed the bedside clock was no longer there.

Just a question: Does anyone wear a wristwatch any longer? Or have wristwatches gone the way of film cameras? If knowing the exact time is so important, I would think a wristwatch would be an essential item for someone, especially if they don't use (or even have) a smartphone to tell time.

Personally, I haven't worn a watch in 3-4 years. The battery died and I was too cheap (or is it thrifty?) to get the battery replaced.

Sometimes it is just latest thing that brings everyone out to complain. IMHO, most people will take and take things that make them upset until they get fed up with it and finally say no more.

Possibly true but even without the charging access, most people still travel with a smart phone and most of those will have a way to charge it on the nightstand. I travel with a travel surge protector that has 2 outlets and 2 USB ports. It will even charge an iPad though it does it slowly like when hooked up to a computer USB. Most don't use them, most of them don't work correctly and it's really an unnecessary expense/aggravation at this point. I think removing them completely is the best way but keeping the remaining ones for request items is the way to go. But like regular cribs, they may not have them for a given person when they call.

I do and not an apple watch but many don't, esp younger generations. But I still travel with a travel router as well, I've used it on about 3 or 4 trips in the last year. I prefer it over wifi because it's more secure and more reliable.

I wear a watch every day...........but not at night.
I have at least 15 watches, a lot of them Disney and they are an essential part of getting dressed every morning

Yes, I wear some sort of watch almost every day. I've never liked sleeping with one on though so I have a clock, by my bed. ;)

Yes I wear a watch. I keep my phone in my purse so it's a multi-step process to unzip the purse, pull out the phone and open the protective cover just to check the time.

A few years ago I replaced my regular watch with a Pebble and I absolutely love it. My DH had stopped wearing a watch a few years ago until I bought him a Pebble as well and he wears it every day. Even though he keeps his phone in his pocket where it's easy to pull it out when he wants to, he finds it more convenient to just glance at the Pebble for the time, text messages and email notifications rather than pull out his phone all the time.

Checking the time in the middle of the night is easier on the Pebble than the phone. I can pick it up off the nightstand and give it a gentle shake to turn on the backlight. I would still rather have a proper clock with large numbers. Fortunately I have one in my Owners Locker.

I wear a wrist watch every day, but not at night. At night I have a clock on my nightstand. I'm not of the "cell phone rooted to palm" generation, so my cell is usually in my purse or dead. :confused3

It's not that I need to know the exact time, but as I get older, I wake up in the middle of the night and I like to know if its 4:30 or 6:30. My wrist watch has a lighted dial, but reading it involves putting on glasses. Just an aging thing I guess. I really don't think a clock in the room is a luxury item, I've never been in a hotel room without a clock. Guess that's one more thing for my suitcase.

I must have missed this thread when it originally happened. I was in a studio at BLT All last week and just assumed someone had stolen the clock and we'd get blamed for it. When we left, I completely forgot about it. :D

$5 clocks with a 9v battery backup. Clocks. Just CLOCKS. Stupid simple solution to a non-problem. A damn hotel room should have a clock. I used my nightstand app all week but if you think it's not a nuisance not having a clock, wait until you go a week in a room without one. I didn't buy my $700 iPads to use as fulltime clocks in a hotel room. The quality of DVC continues its digression to crap.

I assume this is happening in the regular hotel rooms also???

I'm surprised so many people use the clocks by their bed. I always unplug them. My phone is by my bed, and I call down for a wake up call.

Yes, I wear a watch both day and night. Apparently it's very useful because other people will occasionally ask me for the time. I also prefer to have a clock in a hotel room, as my phone is usually in my purse.

I am way behind on this topic but we just stayed at OKW for Thanksgiving for 2 nights before a cruise and had a room with a clock and it had the newer iPhone charging dock for my iPhone 5 and DH's 6....I was thinking they must be upgrading the clocks but from this thread I guess they are not lol

It is fine with me, I never used them. They were always so hard to set and almost always had the wrong time on them.

If I wanted one I would ask at the front desk. Calling always goes to the Call Center and who knows if they even know if they have extras.

I always use the clock guess I'll be bringing one next trip.

People will adjust and IMO, it's a minor adjustment once you know. I wonder what the % of clocks in timeshares and hotel rooms are actually reasonably correct and what % have alarms set that go off unplanned. My guess is that the % that have reasonably correct time and no alarm set unplanned is under 50%. So for those that are insistent on them, I'd assume they go in, check the time and check to be sure there is no alarm set.
