It's pretty straightforward. From the Monorail head to the left and past the gift shop. At the crosswalk continue left past the Disney transportation stops (under cover) and you'll see a couple of tables. The Lynx stops are here. If you opt for the ferry from the MK you'll head straight across the TTC to the gift shop area.

The Lynx stop is just past the the drop off point for buses from the Studios, Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney hotels.

Not to disagree with darrius1st and his comments about his bus experience, but getting two adults and six kids anywhere on public transportation can be a nightmare.

True story from about 50 years ago. My mother didn't get her driver's license until she was in her 30s. This was after dragging four children, all under the age of six, around on public transit.

Far different than two adults in their mid-30s taking public transit.

OP, you'll be fine. Sounds like this will be an adventure. And it doesn't sound like that long of a bus trip anyway.

Now that I am equipped that all this great information you wonderful DIS-er's have fed me I am no longer very worried.
It being a direct route, that runs every half an hour, that picks up directly in front of my hotel (as far as I can tell anyway) I cannot see it being much different (aside from the $2 each way per person) that any normal hotel shuttle anyway.
The only Major issue I now foresee is trying to catch the Illuminations/Wishes/and the Halloween fireworks yet still make it back to the TTC in time.

I used to use public transit a lot when I was younger and have no car of my own so I think I will be fine.

In the mean time, you have 5 months before your trip. If it was me, here are some things I would try:

• Save all $ from can and bottle ruturns and buy Disney gift cards in advance
• Gather stuff from around the house and have a yard sale
• Cut out or reduce a few extras from my regular budget like meals out, hair trims, morning coffee from a shop, etc
• Sell unused clothes at a consignment shop

Going with a few extra $$ would help me feel more comfortable.

Prior to Magic Express, my family used LYNX to get from Orlando airport to our Disney Resort. The bus had other tourists on it and we all had at least one piece of luggage. We were welcomed! The drivers were wonderful, the buses clean, and other travelers were friendly.

One trip I left my carry on at the bench at the TTC. I did not miss it until we were half way to the airport. I panicked as my wallet, tickets and other valuables were in it. The bus driver saw my distress and called Disney TTC with his own cell phone. He arranged for them to go get my case, yes it was still there! He explained how to get right back on another bus to get back to Disney to get my case. Not only did I get my case back but we made our flight home....all because the LNYX driver was great!

Do not worry about using the public bus system. We always found it great!

I'm pretty sure that Hallowishes is at 9:30 (I go to the Halloween party every year!) and the beach at the Polynesian is within walking distance of the Lynx stop at the TTC. It's a bit of a hike but you should be able to watch the fireworks and still catch the 10:53 bus.

Oh, and the 56 gets a bit strange at night. Sometimes one pulls up and the driver will tell everyone waiting he's headed for Disney University, not running the regular route. That's not the one you want. The "regular" 56 will be along soon. At least that's what has happened when I've caught the last bus in the past.

Seems like you've gotten great advice about the bus system, so nothing to add there.

Since you'll likely only want to do one trip to and from park/hotel each day, meaning you'll likely have LONG days at WDW, get creative about midday breaks away from the parks. Visit the hotels, take the ferry from MK to Ft. Wilderness, walk to the Boardwalk from Epcot, etc.

I have watched the MK Fireworks from both the Poly beach and the Ferry dock at the TTC, and the Ferry dock is by far the better view. You are looking directly at the Castle, it is clear a it can be and you see the fireworks straight on as they are intended. The music is pumped in. When they are over you are practically at the bus stop.

as far as bringing in food/eating cheaply:
we often split counter service meals.

at Sleepy Hollow near Liberty square the 2 f us split one funnel cake and that is a great breakfast! also in that area: we split a shrimp dinner.. they give you SO many fries! it is more than enough.. eat too much and you are stuffed adn don't fee like walking around.

just snack and nibble.. we split a rib meal at Flame tree (AK) a lot.

we often have a breakfast of a twinkie and a slim jim on the way to the bus stop! microwave cans of beef stew of ravioli for a late dinner. have fun!

That is sweet of you, but yeah we plan to go Oct 14th - 19th.
Yes we will be doing F&W but we will be pacing ourselves carefully. (theoretically)
