Very strange thing happend this weekend. We drove up for a day trip to DHS this past Saturday (1/2), arriving around noon, and the most amazing thing happened. They just waved everybody into the parking lot. No charge for parking! I haven't parked in a theme park lot in several years (we usually stay in an on-property hotel), so is this common? It was a great start to a great day!!

They did that a few times last week to keep the traffic from building up on Buena Vista Drive. A few times there were cars lined up waiting to even turn into the DHS area and I think they want to alleviate the problem of cars sitting out on the busier road.

I've had that experience at MK during a heavy rain in the afterenoon. I was just waived through and have no idea why....but it was really nice.:thumbsup2

At Disneyland, at least, parking usually is free by a certain time of the day, depending on crowds.

When the cost of paying employees to operate the parking structure exceeds the expected revenue for the rest of the day, it does not make sense to charge for parking.
