Chapter 1 - Pre-Trip
Hi Everyone,
I'm sitting here recovering from surgery and thought, "I guess I'll write that trip report."
Se we went in June 2009 and let a few restaurants know we had a June anniversary. DD (7 at the time) thought having an anniversary or birthday at Disney was the best ever and said, "I wish I could have my birthday in September." I told her I would think about it but no promises.
On a side note...2009 was a very difficult year for my Mom and her declining health. First there were multiple catheterizations in the spring (prior to our May & June vacations). We had hoped to make a 09/09 trip due to low airfares with my Mom since she still felt good and was working... but just could not swing it, financially. Unfortunately, my Mom's health continued to decline and she had a fall with a broken shoulder in October and then some complications. My Mom passed last December so it has been a really tough year for the whole family.
With all that happened we had no plans to visit WDW. In January while mourning my Mom's passing I started thinking about my happy place. I was feeling depressed and right or wrong, I thought planning a trip may help me through and I remembered DD wishing to have her birthday in September. My Mom's birthday is also in September so it was very fitting. So the planning began...
We rented DVC when we went in June 2009 so I was thinking about doing the same. I also thought about a regular package to take advantage of Free Dining. Well once I did all of the Mickey Math - I realized that the Boardwalk in a Studio would only be marginally more than a Moderate with Free Dining. (we are a small family with only 2 adults and 1 child <10 on the dining plan). So Boardwalk it was. We quickly found a wonderful DVC member and rented enough points for a Boardwalk View Studio (paid for the view upgrade for DD's birthday). We made dining reservations, got a great deal on airfare and we were now officially heading back to our Happy Place. We would depart on September 4th and return on September 12th, with DD's 9th birthday sandwiched in the middle on September 8th. Would this be our best trip ever???
The Cast...
Dear Husband - John 43 (9 months younger than me and LOVES to Lord that over me)... I've been dragging him to Disney since 2007 and it occurred to me right before this trip that perhaps I should ask him if he likes going to Disney every year. Yay - he does!!! John is a Land Surveyor (he measures the land as he likes to say). He's actually located a toilet in a private residence while at work - lots of potty humor that day. He's also the quiet type; practical joker who can get away with it for YEARS and HAS 'cause no one ever suspects with him. He loves RC cars and builds and races RC Crawlers. I HATE RC cars and thinks he spends WAY TOO MUCH time on them, but we allow each other their obsessions. BTW, I am NOT obsessed with Disney. It is just a passing interest.

Kayla (Just Turned 9 in Disney World) She is very intelligent, athletic, thoughtful, compassionate and a giggler. She is a competitive gymnast and is super strong; six pack abs, bi's and tri's to die for. She is very active, and is happier walking on her hands than her feet. She just started 4th grade and LOVES Disney World almost as much as me (without the weird obsession ahem I mean passing interest). She is our only 'cause well that is all we were able to have. But we are very thankful for her.

Jesse (He is my Nieces DBF and just started in the College Program at Disney in August). We met him for Days in Epcot and Hollywood Studios. He'd never been to HS and was really good at TSM - Not even DH could beat him! Anyway, he's very sweet and we were happy to feed him a few meals. College Interns get paid very little and have to pay the Mouse, rent out of their meager pay... And then of course, there's the beer, and snacks... and you can see where this is going. So I'm sure the kid is just starving now that we are gone. Remind me to send him a Disney gift card. Anyway, my daughter adores him... Oh, I forgot to mention he is afraid of HEIGHTS and we got him on SOARIN'... But I digress, more on that LATER!!!

Finally there's ME!!! Sue Z. 44 years OLD (ok so I barely act half my age).... True Disney fan and found this site by our second family trip. I am a Critical Care nurse in a very large Medical/Surgical ICU. We are a regional hospital and get very sick patients that are too sick for the surrounding hospitals to take care of. My job is STRESSFUL!!! I love it and I hate it all at the same time. Anyway. I am always planning the next Disney Trip and wish I could go quarterly like some of the lucky DIS'rs around here. Perhaps one day... Below, I'm the one in the pink if you didn't guess!
