We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside with our 1 yr old and 2 yr old and would like to be able to get to Mall at Millenia.

We won't have a rental car or any car seats to put into a taxi for the children so think we'd just have to take the Lynx bus, but because the schedule says it would take over 1.5hrs we don't fancy that with 2 toddlers.

Is there any other way of doing it?

Some towncar companies can bring carseats if requested.

We've only ever used FLTours and they've had two carseats when we booked a van from the airport to Disney property.

It might be steep, but I don't think cabs carry safety seats.

maybe you could hire some child seats..not sure if that is a possibility. I know you can if you hire a car but not sure you can by themselves.
Otherwise I think its the long Lynx bus journey. That is a pain by Lynx and also be very aware that if you catch the connection at Premium Outlets to Mall of Millenia, the bus does not run very late at all, well at least it didn't when we last went..the last bus left the MOM at about 6 pm so don't leave it too late in the afternoon if you are going..:)

As someone with 2 toddlers, I don't love the idea, but be advised if you hire a taxi they are not 'required' by law to be in car seats. This would also apply to towncars, limos, buses, etc. It's your choice whether or not that is an option for you.

Actually this is not true in FL. In FL Livery (taxi, towncar etc) are not exempt from FL carseat laws, in many other states they are, buses are exempt in FL. I don't have access to the link right now but could find it if necessary.

OP - I would hire a taxi and if possible do that from your resort rather than DTD. Bell services can call for one with carseats and then you can probably make arrangements for the pick up with the same cab.

You could also see about a one day rental from the National at WDW or a car rental agency within walking distance of DTD. Even with the cost of 2 carseat rentals you may find a one day rental to be as affordable as a taxi. Mousesavers has some good discount codes.

I may be wrong but I have read more than once that some taxis have car seats. You would have to have the front desk call for you and specify that you need car seats. I would call mears, they are the taxis on disney property and ask here is the link to the website http://www.mearstransportation.com/

This is absolutely not true. In Florida cabs, town cars, and limos are not exempt from car seat laws, although buses are.

2 years ago we hired a taxi with a carseat to take us from POFQ to BC because we were going for pictures and didnt want to get all sweaty taking the bus...man, what a scary drive that was! the carseat was completely unusable!! The belts were misguided ,they were twisted and wouldnt tighten, and it was SOOO dirty! I looked for an expiration date but couldnt find out...

In the end, we didnt have time to wait for another cab or take the bus, so we ended up putting DS in the carseat strapped into the center seat in the car for added safety and then we also held him in the seat and held our breath that everything would be okay as we drove there!! We were heading to EPCOT and taking the bus home from there afterwards so we couldnt bring our own carseat that we had for plane travel...

Needless to say - I dont recommend the risk associated with this..

As a side note - we took the DVC shuttle one year for the tour and they had great carseats in their vans...if only I could have paid their driver to take us that night! sigh!!

The primary purpose of a car seat in a taxi is to satisfy legal requirements.

But if the riders specifically "ordered" a car seat and it is not clean or safe the riders can decide not to take that cab. THerefore it is to the driver's advantage to have a good car seat.

Thanks for all your replies. I've been in touch with a town cars place and they said they had the suitable car seats and when we book we can book the seats also. They said they had Lincoln's and SUV's and the seats were tethered better in the SUV so we might go for that.

We also were in touch with Martin Faynik and Ed Korgan who both run car services and we were really impressed by the reviews we found online for them, so might book with one of them.

Its going to be $$$ compared to the bus, but 1.5 hrs there and another 1.5 hrs back and being stuck to timetable times doesn't sound like fun with a 1 year old and a 2 year old!
Even if it was legal in FL, we wouldn't be happy to put them in a standard taxi without car seats. We would never take that risk at home so its crazy to do it on holiday. From reading a few discussion forums I think we might be lucky to find a standard taxi with a car seat in the trunk, but the chances of finding one with 2 seats seems unlikely - plus I have no idea what condition they might be in.

Really relieved to have found a way to do it though with the car services and the town cars, now all we have to do it budget for it!
Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Just wanted to toss out one more option for you...pick up a car at disney (car care center) and rent 2 seats with it for the day....you'd have the flexibility to go wherever/whenever and it should cost less than the car service...

I'd probably lean to a towncar. Their seats are likely to be better maintained than a taxi's, or even the rental car company's. The latter can be dodgy.
