No Buy May

Pizza friday night quickly changed to take-out chinese so blew out dining out budget already - yes, on the 2nd day of the month!

On the plus side I did EXCELLENT grocery shopping Saturday! My total before coupons&sales specials was 141.18 and I only paid 46.87! It was probably one of my best coupon/sale visits ever!

5/1 - Zero
5/2 - 39.69 Oil Change/Sticker household budget
5/2 - 39.10 Takeout chinese eating out budget
5/3 - 46.87 Grocercies
5/4 - 6.48 CVS miscellaneous budget
5/4 - 19.00 movie mom & sisters for mom bday - Misc budget

39.10/25 Eating out
46.87/300 Grocery
39.69/150 Household
25.48/50 Miscellaneous

5/5
Mothers Day - 10.49. I got my mom a book and also I made her a photo book at CVS which turned out to be FREE after my coupon!

Groceries - 58.34

Gas - 25.00

Remaining:

Eating out 158.75/200
Groceries/household 312.63/400
Gas 125/150
Entertainment 58.25/75
Mothers Day 39.51/50
Dance recital 25/25

Is it really only the 5th?

Already some bumps in the road:

Date night-- 93.00:scared1: (200 for the month)
DD's summer camp (forgot about it) 150.00
Spree Day/Book Fair for DS 10.00

AND I never buy drinks from vending machines, but I forgot a water bottle the other day, and then I lost my money in the machine! Serves me right! Coke says they'll send a coupon for a 20 oz soda, so all is not lost!:thumbsup2

5/4: $90.75 on groceries (monthly BJ's run, and Walmart); $27.68 (other for house like toilet paper, detergent, etc); $11.22 (other necessity like toothpaste, Qtips, etc) and a whopping $1.11 on prescription, shampoo & conditioner and a bunch of other things at Walgreens (had a GC)

5/5: $72.91 on a dozen roses sent to grandma and two dozen roses sent to mom for Mother's Day (my budget was $80!)

So two big spend days but both were within budget and I'm hoping to hold off on more food shopping for a while (have $60 left in the budget). I haven't gone over yet.. but it IS only the 5th :rotfl:

Maybe I can make tomorrow and Wednesday $0 days, because I know I'll be spending on Panera on Thursday :rolleyes1

.

Have you tried looking on ebay?

I don't want to get them used ones, though....

I have a funny budget story!

In my neigbhorhood people throw away the best stuff! So I drop the kids off at carpool, I'm in my pajama bottoms and flip flops and a t-shirt (I did manage a bra that morning, thank god) and I'm driving home and I see a huge table that somebody has thrown out. And it's a nice table! Solid butcher block with solid wood legs. It's beat to hell, somebody's obviously left it outdoors, but it's a good big table.

So I slam on the breaks and I sit there for about a minute staring at it in the rearview mirror, debating. I'm only about 1/4 mile from the school so the other parents are still going by occasionally, and I already have reputation for a bit of a wacko (carefully cultivated!), and I'm like, how badly do I want this table? I've been wanting some patio furniture fairly badly lately but I've been saving to fix the bathroom so I've been on a seriously tight budget.

So I decide, hell yeah! I back up and shut off the car and I have to tumble all the seats down in the minivan before I can get this enormous table in. I drag the table out of the pile of trash and of course the other trash makes all these clanking banging sounds as I'm dragging the table off the pile (at 7:30 in the morning).

Oh, the other thing I discover is that table is frickin' HEAVY!!! and much bigger than I first thought. But now I'm committed! I'm wrestling this grimy behemoth into the car in my jammies and flip flops, praying that nobody I know comes by (especially some PTA kitties that would just LOVE to see me doing this so they could gossip), and I manage to get it into my minivan, finally. But it's so big it totally sticks out the end. No fear, I always travel with bungie cords! So I bungie the liftgate down as far as I can and head home.

I worked on it yesterday afternoon after work and sanded it down and scrubbed it, and primed it and hit it with two coats of dark green super-protectant spray paint. It looks really good now! I have to put one coat of clear varnish on top and go find some chairs at wal mart to go with it. So, that's my reduce REUSE recycle story for today :thumbsup2

May 3: 0
May 4: $20 (kids soccer photos, budgeted for)
May 5: 0

Today probably won't be a zero day since I want to get the chairs and the varnish for it. But still, woo hoo! I'm thinking I spend less than 10/chair or go hunt for some at yard sales. Outdoor furniture gets so beat up that I hate spending a lot on it, so this is a good compromise for me!

I did well this weekend; my husband, however, is a sieve and I'm considering getting a new one ;) There was at least 2 trips to Home Depot, one trip to the rock place for sand, Mcdonalds for breakfast (which he didn't share or bring me any) and I don't know who bought the beer but there was a lot of it.

And I did grocery shopping; $120 doesn't buy much these days, I was really hoping for under a hundred.

$150/ $600 Groceries (includes the $6 breakfast I didn't get to have)
$55 / $100 Household (sand for the hottub that was such a great deal and has been nothing but bills)
$0 / $200 Gas (will have to fill up today or tomorrow :( )

Still have to get my sister a b-day gift (for tonight) and a mothers day gift for my mommy. I don't know how much the rest of the stuff was from the weekend, gotta wait for the cc statements.

Hello All! Today, I realized I at least needed to get cards in the mail. I was planning on seeing my mom later in the month, but now I don't know. So, I figured the cards ought to go ahead and go. Oh, and there was that MIL person. Tomorrow, I'll have to go to the grocery store as I only picked up a few bulk items at Sam's. I know I'll have to at least get milk. I hope everyone's having a great week!

5/1-$0:thumbsup2
5/2-$33 at Walmart, budgeted, $35 unplanned
5/3-$0:thumbsup2
5/4-$0:thumbsup2
5/5-$38 groceries at Sam's :thumbsup2
5/6-$8 out of Mother's Day budget

Went to grab lunch out the freezer as I was flying out the door but alas, someone has eaten all the frozen leftovers... so had to buy lunch today (but it was good :rotfl2: ).

Tonight for dinner, I made enough for 3 leftover lunches and then got really keen and made tomorrow nights dinner and 2 lots of lunch left overs from that too. That sorts out the rest of this weeks lunches so need to just make sure we keep the levels in the freezer up.

1st - $0
2nd - $0
3rd - $0
4th - $0
5th - $0
6th - $0
7th - $6 for lunch

$6/$250

Glad I could give you a smile :)

Let's see; Monday was okay, Tuesday was $70 for sisters birthday gift (mostly in budget) and $5 food because my lunch just didn't cut it. Today we got gas ($42) and an eye appointment that I forgot to budget for ($50).

Good news is my left eye isn't fuzzy anymore. Bad news is the doctor thinks it's my contacts and not work stress that made me blind. So can't blame them anymore. I still will though, because the doctor was so obviously wrong. :)

$155/ $600 Groceries
$105 / $100 Household (Shoot)
$42 / $200 Gas

The man went to the store tonight. He even made me make a list. Should've been $30 or so. Spent $86. :scared: I retaliated with the purchase of a giant cookie at work ($1.04). I know not all is lost, but that's over $50 to squeeze from other week's budgets.

5/1-$0 :thumbsup2
5/2-$33 at Walmart, budgeted, $35 unplanned
5/3-$0 :thumbsup2
5/4-$0 :thumbsup2
5/5-$38 groceries at Sam's
5/6-$8 out of Mother's Day budget

Ok so here goes mine!

May 1st- Had my last class of the semester and worked nights the night before (which means I slept until DD got home from school, had dinner with the fam and then went to class myself) so No money spent!!!

May 2nd- Needed to celebrate... so took DD to school and DH and I went to breakfast at cracker barrel ($20.20) fine, I just took it out of the Misc column ($375 per two week pay period)
Walmart- $80 (mixture of misc items actually needed and then a Hannah montana outfit for DD) fine just took that out of both the toilitries/cleaning supply budget and misc budget
Aeropostale- $60 worth of clothes for me (however, I also returned $60 worth to Target so I broke even here)
DD went to moms campsite for the weekend, me and hubby ordered pizza $21 with tip (misc budget)
-120

May 3rd- Actually sold about $150 on ebay so I made money today! and I worked so I had lunch at work (free brought it with me) and then came home and stayed in and had dinner with my hubby :o)
+150

May 4th- Went to moms campsite for lunch and to pick up kiddle ($6 for tolls) misc budget, so still doing ok plus of course we made some money on ebay
-6

May 5th- Relaxation day, just kinda chilled around the house, hit the tanning salon and watched some TV, oh and then I picked DD up and we washed my car ($8 total) went home and hung out
-8

May 6th- Worked night shift, spend about $5 at wawa on a sandwhich and drink
-5

May 7th- Picked milk up on way home ($3.50) (still had $5 left for groceries in the two week period so fine here) Oh and sold another $50 on ebay (but it was Shans Ariel costume so it is going straight to her Disney spending fund)
Went to Hallmark for cards ($8) Dollar store ($5) and food store ($20.50)
Oh and then needed gas (however it had been over a week so this was ok) $49!!! what ya gonna do, I like the convenience of a car so i will pay
-86

So I did pretty good so far, DH and I get paid on Friday and I won't be spending any money tomorrow so all is well...

As far as the budget goes well we stayed within our $225 range for groceries for the whole 2 weeks, we went over our misc sort of but then we made $150 so we actually ended up with about $60 left in that area, all our bills were paid on time as usual and we even added a lil into the DIsney fund... So I am doing ok, although I can't quite stay out of walmart without splurging on the season 4 box set of 90210 and of course more Hannah montana items for DD.... but what ya gonna do, you only get one life! :rolleyes1
