No Buy March

3/25/10: $3.39 latte, $1.50 bus fare, $2.25 laundry and $1..47 sour cream and chives potato (wendy's)

3/26/10: so far $2.31 Hardees (got out of the house and had a sandwich and coffee and mailed 2 things) and $10.50 groceries (Pic Pac) and $7.25 drinks

Struggling to keep the damage to a minimum. It's hard not to say 'Oh well I already blew the budget so I may as well buy X' which, if I'm being honest, is what I've been doing. No big purchases but little things i would have done without or waitied on.

negative 83.08 remaining of $865 total budget:scared1:

This is my first month not tracking gas and I really prefer not tracking it. I have been able to stay on track with my budget and when I need gas I don't have to stop at the store and spend money. When I needed gas before since it was ruining my no buy day I would go out and buy stuff. Now too if I see a low price on gas I just go there and get some and I don't have to worry as much about it. Also, since I use percentages filling up my gas tank would cause a huge spike in my percentage since I would be spending $30-$40 on gas.

Good point. I think I might list it but not count it against myself if I have to get gas. I can see where you would feel like "Hey, I had to get gas so I can buy that now cuz I blew my no spend day." I like to see how much im spending though.. So i might just list it in (x)...:thumbsup2

On another note, I'm seriously proud of myself. DH and I have accumulated some cc debt, and this month I said THE END. Its mainly my shopping addiction, but we have put parts of vacation, or date nights on credit too. NO MORE CREDIT CARDS.:scared1: So Ive decided to give up internet on my phone, go to a more basic cable, and down to a slower speed internet connection. I try to justify these things as needs, but they just aren't. We just bought into DVC, and paid for it outright so with knowing we have to vacation to Disney every year, or every other year or we will loose the points, I want to have no debt, and a vacation savings so we can be comfortable. So anywhoo, your now bored to death of reading my ramble, if anyone is still reading by down scaling we got an extra $43 a month from things we really didn't need. And I thought we had our bills shaved down pretty good! I'm so glad for this thread and the Budget Board. Thanks! :wizard::wizard::wizard: Bippity-Boppity-BOO!:woohoo:

Don't you just love No Buy thread!!

We do have a house, and wanted to take advantage of the resale prices as they are so low so decided to purchase DVC out right with no loan, and pay off credit card debt with monthly payments, as the loan for DVC would have greater interest. Thanks for the encouragement, and good luck on your cc debt too. Your an inspiration to get mine paid off and I hope to in the next year or two. :) This thread is seriously life changing as dorky as that sounds. I just have to stick with it!

March 27-$0 Today I was supposed to ahve a date with my hubby, but he got called into work so we will go out tomorrow. That's OK, it made me have a $0 day today when it otherwise wouldn't have been and tomorrow won't either because we are going to breakfast with the Easter Bunny anyway. Today we went to an Egg Hunt FREE, went to Michael's for craft day FREE, picked up our ceramics from last weekend and saw another Michael's so we went and they said we could do another craft FREE (they even gave us a bunch of extra supplies since hardly any kids showed up.) Then home for lunch. Now the kids are cleaning their room (getting ready for the Bunny, he won't come if the room is messy.) :thumbsup2
