No Buy February

Not budget related (unless you count the pedialyte purchased and the tylenol suppositories DH is picking up on the way home from work) but why oh why is the stomach flu rampaging my house again! Really?! Again?! It hit DD in the middle of playgroup today .... they weren't impressed when our caregiver picked her up. She's now running a fever of almost 40... not sure what that is in F but high. I can't even give her anything to get it down since she still can't keep even a teaspoon of water down. And DMIL is in her room the same way... hit her last night. I've been off for two days with stomach issues but not near as bad as this. DH is so swamped at work he asked if he should stay in a hotel tonight. Our saving grace is that DS7 and DS2 haven't gotten it .... yet. Keep your fingers crossed.... ok, vent over.

February 1: $102.74 Grocery store ($400.00 budget)
February 2: $0.00
February 3: $113.00 Vet bill I nearly fell over. It is getting so expensive. This was for two shots, blood test and a new rx for heartworm meds, they even waived the office visit fee. Well this doesn't come out of my spending money it comes out of a special account I have put aside for pets so I'm not going to count this against myself. Moving on.
February 4: $0.00

Was just posting on the Pantry Challenge Thread how we are so tired today I almost ordered pizza. In the end I heated up some leftovers and threw something together at home instead. I am always so happy afterwards that I didn't cave in and buy out when I have perfectly good food at home. :goodvibes

I am trying to go to the grocery store once a week and am already jotting down things I need and will start looking for some printable coupons. I found the best way for me is to decide what I want to buy first and then google search for coupons to match my list. That way I am not buying things just because I found a coupon for it. :teacher:

So so sorry to hear your family is sick. Hope everyone gets better quickly. The stomach flu is the worst! :flower3:

Hey all -- I'm new at this but I hope it's ok to jump on board! I'm hoping to have 10 $0 days this month (so far I'm 1/10). I'm just tracking -- not setting any goals till I really see where it's all going. Thanks for letting me tag along and watch the pros in action! :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry your family is sick, I hope they all feel better soon!
I may have some advice, feel free to ignore me if you want...do you close your toliet seats when you flush? Germs can get into the air when you flush and on to other things in the bathroom (toothbrushes, ect.). My mom had us do this about 15 years ago, since then no one in my family has had the stomach flu. Of course my brother and I were not as young as your kids

Or you can get paid to take things with coupons which is even better. :thumbsup2

The rotel that is on sale this week for us is a profit of .12 per can with the blinkie coupon that is right in front of it. So I'm using those to bring down the cost of my groceries along with a few other money maker items.

I won't use the rotel but lots of ppl do so they'll go off to the food bank. Win/win situation. :goodvibes

I don't know if your vet gives you a good deal on heartworm meds or not. But I know most vets charge too much. You might want to check out http://www.drsfostersmith.com/ and see if they might be cheaper than your vet. I get all of my dogs heartworm meds as well as her frontline from there. For the heartworm meds, you just have to enter your vet info in and they verify it since it's a prescription.

They offer free shipping on the meds and other health stuff (like our dog's Omega 3 capsules.)
