No Buy February

So, how do you record bills - Yes, I'm spending money, but it is budgeted money - if I pay bills that are budgeted for (not unexpected), and dont spend any other money, does that count as a "no spend" day? :confused3 Am I just looking for a "freebie" no-spend day? :thumbsup2 you betcha! LOL

Oh well, I'm still going for my goal of ten "no $pend" days - :cutie:

Feb 1st - $10.00 gas , $4.23 Michael's
Feb 2nd -$15.65 lunch, $20.00 Misc.
Feb 3rd - $10.00 gas
Feb 4th - $8.23 CVS, $40.00 Avon (not "spent", but ordered)

I know I am going to be jinxing myself saying it but last night I had to spend 14$ to get some coolant for my car. I am explaining to the guy my problems we have been having lately. (Now my father the car genius has already told me what he thinks it is....I have ignored him, praying he is wrong) then the man at the car place says I hate to tell you this but everything you are describing tells me one thing it can be...a blown head gasket about to happen. (Once again my dad hit the nail on the head....)

Soooo....so much for that saving money this month. Now I am gonna have to get a new car very soon. My car is old and for the first few days of my dad telling me that was the issue I called a few repair centers..it will cost more to fix it then the car is value at. And honestly I am just sick of it as I have already since Nov put 800 into it.

Well total of spending for today 2/4 0$ Yay for that I guess.....

2/1 $12.37 (lunch for DD & I)
2/2 $0 (my boss treated me to lunch today!)
2/3 $0
2/4 $0
2/5 Won't be 0. I just got invited out to lunch.:) Oh well.

total groceries: $0/350
total $0 days: 3/12

Guess my goal for the month is "don't buy dumb stuff."

Maybe my motto could be "remember the wedding."

Last year I went for NO discretionary spending about every other month. (Getting ready for this year).

DD is getting married in May. Yesterday I bought my dress. I LOVE it, it is comfortable and it was marked down from $198 to $37. Is that discretionary spending--yes. Is it an avoidable impulse buy--no.

I bought DH a York Peppermint Patty with CVS bucks and a valentine card at the dollar store. Again, discretionary but not impulse.

Goal = Spend $600 (or less) and have at least ten $0 days.

February 1st = $0
February 2nd = $19.80 (ordered a bunch of mailing labels because I'm almost out.)
February 3rd = $47.24 (groceries)

Total so far = $67.04

$0 Days so far = 1/10

Feb 1st - $10.00 gas , $4.23 Michael's
Feb 2nd -$15.65 lunch, $20.00 Misc.
Feb 3rd - $10.00 gas
Feb 4th - BILLS - $352.00 ($200.00 phones, $32.00 electric, $30.00 gas, $50.00 transfer to savings (that means DISNEY FUND!!), $40.00 Avon order)

I don't track bills. My electric, natural gas, water, insurance, car payment, mortgage, cable, phone and any other bill that gets paid every month because it has to isn't discretionary. That doesn't include my cc bill. Everything on that I count unless its an automatic payment like my cell phone and home security. Anything else I pay I track. Looking at your list of bills, if it was mine, I wouldn't count anything except the Avon order (assuming 'gas' is gas for the house and not the car)

thanks! I think I will edit my post - to me, bills are bills, and it's suff I *have* to pay, not me going crazy in the dollar section of Super Target ( it's been known to happen! :rotfl: ) but I didn't know if there were hard & fast "rules" of the "no buy" thread!!

and its a wash anyway, because I was at the drugstore on lunch!

2/3/10: $3.18 thrift store t-shirts and $3.81 White Castle and $1.59 snack and gum

2/4/10: $1.50 bus fare, $4.51 Dairy Queen, $14.83 Walgreens (med.), $20 CVS (daily use health item), $11.48 Dollar Tree (various things) and $2.72 Kroger's and $6.33 dollar general

Ok i did this last month. I wasnt too good at posting but i think i did a pretty good job of saving money. I got my credit card bill and Bank statement in today and i only spent $89 on my CC(really good for me) and not counting bills i spent $317 from my bank account. that includes mostly getting gas, netflix membership and hair cut. the rest is money i took out of the ATM.Usually when i get my statement the money coming in is only alittle more than the money going out. this month there was a big differnce.
Anyway on to this month. i dont think im gonna do a goal just keep track of what i spend then i will have a better idea for a goal next month.

Feb 1-$0
Feb 2-$0
Feb 3-$7 on cat litter
Feb4-$0(i was going to go get cat food but i dont feel like going out)

I track my bills through auto payments and ING accounts - it's slightly complicated but works for me. That way, I can save up a little each month for annual insurance payments, higher winter gas bills, etc. I only report here on No Buy my discretionary spending: food, going out, clothing, gifts, etc.

Oh, and I spoke too soon on not having spent anything yet - I placed a GoPicnic order at the end of January I'm counting for February. And now, of course, they're having another sale so I think I'll buy some more! :rolleyes1

2/1 - $31.84
2/2 - $0
2/3 - $0

Total: $31.84/$260
