On the post about service possibly "going downhill", it was noted that WDW may have gotten rid of all "bus" staff.
Anyone dining recently (especially at the "high-end" restaurants) confirm this? Did the servers themselves have to clean and clear the tables?

We were there four months ago and learned of this from servers in the GF Cafe, Concourse SH, Citrico's. Evidently, it happened awhile ago. They were apologizing for delays and told us that WDW no longer uses bussers.

wow I hope not being a server in FL. and getting paid 2.50$ :confused3 an hour I would be P.O.d and u think service went down now wait till a server has to clean up after a family of 5 with 3 of them being toddlers happen to me yesterday it look like they had a ticker tape parade at the table i gave the busser the 5$ tip they left me for the 125$ bill . :earseek:

Didn't the servers insist on this change? I don't remember where I read that, but I think it had something to do with not wanting to split their tips anymore... Does anyone remember the story?

Yes, that's what I hear as well. From what I was told, it is supposed to allow for tables to be cleared faster because the servers want the most turnover possible and the bus people were not doing it quickly enough. I guess it is not working out that way though because the servers can not keep up with the cleaning.

I also only think it is at the GF for now.

Servers can certainly do it--IF they have the time.
jazznms;
Saw a similar table at a local restaurant this weekend. Looked as tho their entire meal was on the floor. Along with untensils and several cups. It took TWO bus staff a good 10 minutes to clean it all up. Actually had to get the big vacuum out. If the servers had to do it, probably would have been an "out of commission" table the whole evening.

I'm not sure exactly when the process started at all of Disney but we were there the second week in January and our server at the Kona Cafe told us that they had just let all the bussers go and the wait staff was busing for the first time that week. He asked for our patience, which we gave. But if the servers are still asking for patience I would say that is has turned from getting used to a new situation to permenantly causing bad service

Had dinner at Le Cellier and Cape May Buffet in April 2005 and didn't notice any bad service. It was as top notch as one would expect.

If you can find where you read that, I would love to know! At my restaurant, we've been begging for management to bring back the bussers.

We have lots of those tables in my restaurant. I always say I need to get the power washer out to clean the mess. I just wonder if the kids are aloud to do that at home or if the parents think, well I don't have to clean it up so they can do whatever they want.
