No Brainer for most, Value vs. DIS

Hello,
I think my math is still good but wanted to run this by someone here.

I'm looking to go to Disney World around Nov 12th and to pay a very low rate. I'm wondering would it be cheaper financially to stay at a property hotel like All Star or Pop rather than rent some points from someone at this website and stay at one of these locations.

I don't think that is an easy question to answer.

I have 5 children. For me it is MUCH cheaper to stay in a room with a kitchen, than to stay in a less expensive room and have to buy all my meals. I don't spend a lot of time cooking on vacation. We normally do cereal or frozen waffles for breakfast. Some people eat while other people are getting ready. We eat lunch out, and then sometimes we eat dinner out and sometimes we do grilled cheese, nachos, mac cheese etc.

I really think you need to look at the whole cost of the vacation and your vacationing style.

well you are in the DVC section, so obviously we all feel DVC has a value that cant be measured!

Comparing a value to a DVC property is impossible. SSR and OKW resorts are huge, have pools with slides and extra perks and activities.
You might be more on par if you compared DVC with a delux, spacially the studios with kitchenette are much larger than a value- OKW has the largest rooms of all.
then theres BCV and BWV- walking access to Epcot
WLV-access to MK
AKLV- new and trendy and special with a view of the animals.
Values cant offer anything except what their title infers- a good value for a place to sleep while you visit WDW. You will surely get a good deal, be on property, access to busses and a pool and a food court, etc.

What kind of experience do you want out of your resort?

You also need to take into account that DVC rooms are pretty much sold out from 10/31 thru January, excepy for spotty rooms here and there. It's a very popular time for DVC owners and tends to fill up quickly. If you found a ressie you are not apt to get it at "a very low rate". An owner that has a room they are willing to part with is likely to want (and get) a premium for the room.

Is there a "very low rate" anywhere on Disney property? There will be very few discounts at that time of year and it's way late in the year to be looking to rent points from a DVC owner and hope to get a reservation. You may see posts for "distressed" points that people have left-over and are willing to rent cheaply. Getting a reservation, however, is a whole different story as availability is so limited.
In order for you to make a comparison, or ask us to, you would need to indicate what price you would pay for a "Value" versus what price you could rent points for that would actually end up in a reservation. It really doesn't matter what the renter is charging if there is no availability left.

Space aside, there is NO comparison between a VALUE resort and DVC. It's an entirely different experience. The DVC places are more comparable to the Moderate and even the Deluxe resorts.

Your biggest problem with renting a reservation from a DVC member for Nov is finding availability this late. Now if you were talking about Nov 2008, it wouldn't be any problem.

If you want to pay a "very low rate", look at offsite properties like Quality Inn or Comfort Inn or other chain motels.

You might be surprised! Last week I added the night of November 13th to our existing AKV reservation!

As a renter, I usually don't both responding to posts from people looking for reservations in the near future, especially during the holiday season. There's so little chance of availability, and I am the one on the phone with MS trying to find them something that doesn't exist.
