Well after reading so many trip reports I feel it's now time to throw my hat into the ring. Here goes

The cast
Iheoma(30)- Secretly wants to be travel agent to put all those overplanning late nights to good use-in the real world an adoption counselor (starting a new job upon return). Did ALL of the planning for the trip. Many trips to WDW as a kid and teen. Last trip March 2000.

Terry(29)/DH - Not so secretly wants to be a professional video game tester-in the real world a manager of a large retail store. Did NONE of the planning for the trip. Second trip to WDW. Last trip March 2000.

Kira(2.5)/DD - a.k.a. "little face" 1st Disney trip. Watches the the WDW planning video every other day as if it is a regular show.

This trip means a lot to me because it will be the first family vacation we'll be taking since my mother died (breast cancer) in October 2002. We've worked really hard to pay for everything in advance so that we won't be using credit cards for anything. We plan on doing a lot of sit-downs and buying plenty of souveniers/stuff to bring home.

It will be a challenge going to WDW with a 2.5 year old who is just about finished with toliet training, loves Lilo and Stitch but truly believes that the Sears Tower is "Disney world". Must be it's resemblence to the castle. (She sees it every day on the way to daycare).

We plan on spending 6 days at the park and one day at TL or BB (we'll flip a coin on the plane). We've got PS for the following: Boma(dinner), Crystal Palace (breakfast/early lunch),Biergarten (lunch), Whispering Canyon Cafe (dinner), 'Ohana (dinner), Brown Derby (with Fantasmic pkg) and Chef Mickey's (Breakfast).

We're leaving from the Windy City on May 3 and returning on May 10. Our transportation will be provided by my absolute favorite airline in the world, Southwest. We've reserved a rental car for the week and will be staying offsite at the LaQuinta Inn/Lakeside. In the early planning stages of the trip we had ressies at CBR but realized that we could stay longer and not stress about saving for the trip if we stayed off-site. Also DH does not want to be in the "magic" 24/7. Soooo I got on hotwire and got LaQuinta Inn and was pleasantly surprised. DH and I stayed there during our last visit and we were very pleased with the size of the room, the cleanliness of the hotel, the pools and the staff. It doesn't hurt that I got a rate of $21.00 per night for all seven nights. The DIS board has been a GREAT support for ideas.

A word about the title- My DH has "issues" with wearing sandles. Even though I've told him a million times wearing black socks on the beach is not making a "daring" fashion statement, he has insisted on wearing black socks and tennis shoes every single time we got to a beach or pool. This includes weekend trips to the lakefront in the summer (just a block away from our house). There is nothing wrong with his feet and this trip the madness will stop. I bought him some Speedo Soccer Slides to wear to TL/BB and the pool. There will be an epic battle between us about this but I am sure to prevail when all of his black socks get "forgotten" to be dried on Sunday night before we leave.

Thanks for reading. I'll post when we get back about the trip. Hopefully I will be able to do at least half as well as my trip writing idols - Zurg's Wife and Shhhh.. It's a Surprise writer. (These are just my favorites, although there are many greats).

don't forget to put some lime green ribbon on your fanny pack or back pack or your carriage.......most people can say .....OH THAT MUST be a Diser........we will be there until the 7th......hopefully we will see some lime green ........have a great time

We're going for a quick trip (May 16 - 20) with my 2.5 yr old son - it'll be his 4th trip already! He also likes to watch the planning video.

Your daughter will have a great time, and you'll have fun watching her. Remember to bring extra clothes to the parks in case she plays in the fountains. Also, at KMart I got a portable, clip-on fan for his stroller and a spray bottle with a fan on top - they're handy when its really hot out.

Don't push the black socks issue too much - he may think he's giving some by just going, and you don't want him to be grumpy the whole time. I'd pack a few pair of black socks to pull out just in case. If he wears them, his pic may just wind up on badshoes.com!

Have a great time!

~Linda
