Hi everyone,

This past weekend I just booked a surprise weekend trip in January to celebrate my niece's 9th birthday and my nephew's 7th birthday. We wanted to have one big dinner to celebrate, preferably on our arrival day.

Our first choice was O'Hana. Nothing available.

Then T-Rex. Nothing Available.

Since we aren't going to a park on our first day, we can only go to resort and DTD restaurants. Options that do have availability are:

1900 Park Fare, which I'm worried is to girly for my nephew.
Cheg Mickey's - I have eaten here a number of times, the most recently was a couple years ago and it was a horrible experience. I have boycotted it ever since.
WCC - we did breakfast here a couple years ago to celebrate their birthdays and they still talk about it. It was fun, but I really wanted to try something new and different.

So any opinions or thoughts on other restaurants would be great. I had no idea so many restaurants would be packed that weekend. But apparently they are. Oh and our only full day will be spent in MK, but we really like to enjoy the park and usually eat CS.

I think it would be great for a birthday! Try to get a table in the back room though so it's not quite so loud. You'll still have the meteor showers etc, but it just get so loud in the front you can't think!
It's a fun place, the portions are HUGE and you don't have to use a park ticket! Get a reservation if you can! The lines out front get big!
If you like tuna try the Triasic Tuna appy, yum!

Thanks for your opinion! I thought so too which is why I tried to book it...and nothing was available. I have since updated my original post.

You might be able to get something at T-Rex by calling directly. They seem to only offer a limited amount of reservations to WDW:
407-828-8739

I was not able to get anything online, but when I called directly, I had my pick of times.

Good Luck! (BTW, love your thread title!)

We call Trails End Disney's hidden gem. We had a blast here for dinner and afterward you can go out to the dock and watch the electrical parade or go to chip and dales S'mores.

Genius! I just called and had a reservation in under 2 minutes. Thanks so much for recommending this to me. Anyone know if they do something special for birthdays...like sing or bring out a cupcake, etc?

If you go to T-Rex, sign up for the Safari club before you go in ($10). You get either 10% off entrees or free select appetizer. You also get a discount on purchases in their store. You also get the same discounts and freebies at Rainforest Cafe'.

It's good for all the Rainforest Cafe's everywhere in the world and it never expires.

If you decide to go back to either restaurant during your trip, you still get the discounts/free app. PLUS, you get walk-in priority seating.

We use it on all of our return trips. They send emails with extra free things too.

Build a Bear has a shop in T-rex called Build a Dino. It is a lot of fun, especially as a birthday treat!

Have a great trip!

If you are an AP holder you also get the 10% off in both the store and the shop without having to sign up for the Safari Club. I believe the same is true for DVC members, although we always use our AP so have never needed to use our DVC card.

that's good to know.....i've never heard anyone mention that!

Now I just have to buy into the DVC.

They sang to me. We also had a great waiter to.

OP so glad you were able to get a t-rex reservation by calling the restaurant directly...now if we could only do that for all the restaurants at wdw :sad2:

We were just there on the 15th. I requested to be seated in the ice room and regreted it. It looks so cool but the blue light made me dizzy. We were celebrating my sons birthday and they didnt do anything special.

There were 4 of us. Two burgers, 1 baked chicken plate with veggies, and the Sliders (like 3 Burger King burger shots) for my 8 y/o with the Extinction dessert = $102.00 (before the tip). Those were from the "lesser end" of the menu.

I would recommend sitting under the octopus or in the aquarium room. Really neat.

We wont be going back for a full meal. Next time we'll just go for dessert and then shop. Its all about the scenery anyway.

The restaurant wasn't even a quarter way full when we were there. They told us they didn't even open up one area of seating (to the back of the ice room) until 4pm.
