No biggie, just a little pet peeve!

That would be very annoying. When I get my coffee, I add my stuff, but I step aside away from the machine and do it. If it is in the morning, I am usually carrying 2 to for cups for my wife and I.

For me I found everyone considered everyone else and moved up to the right and you could proceed up.

You know what makes me nuts? When people stand right dead center in front of the soda machine. If I want Diet Coke, which is on the left and you are getting regular Coke, which is to the right, can't we BOTH get our drinks at the same time? GAAHHH!!

How about someone filling 3 water bottles with H20 and I only want a tiny cup of Coke?! Common courtesy is a dying custom.

which is why I am perplexed when I read about all the people who line up (or queue, for those across the pond) at the buffet stations. Push on the elevators, be oblivious at the beverage machines, etc, etc, but form neat lines when it isn't necessary?
I don't think this goes to courtesy but stupidity......oh, now look what you made me go and say.:love:

While I agree that common courtesy is seeming to be dying out in a lot a places, ....what about having a little patience?? You're on vacation..and I'm sure the someone getting water is moving as fast as they can. Why should they have to rush, or even move, because you feel that they are taking too long....you'll get your Coke, as soon as they are done getting their water. Courtesy does go both ways....

I have to agree with you here. You are on a ship, where are you in a rush too? This is a holiday, relax and don't sweat the small stuff.

Were you there? Was it you?!

I never said they had to rush. But it would've been a nice thing if they gave me space to get my coke or let me get it first so they can continue their bulk water filling at a leisurely pace. That's what I would do if the situation was reversed. And I would have thanked her if that were the case.

And like you said, I'm on vacation too. It's not about rushing, but about not wasting my vacation time waiting for someone who is too selfish and inconsiderate and monopolizing the drinking station that is for EVERYONE.

Are people really that self involved that they can't move eight inches to their right? That a soda machine must be monopolized and not shared with others? Why is any one person's time more valuable than another's?

1. Common is a very overused, misunderstood term....so what is common for you, is not common for me. People in the south may be slow moving, where as people in nyc may move fast...doesn't make them rude or bad, just what they grew up learning.

2. Maybe i have no courtesy, if i see someone standing toward the side of the machine and i can get on the other side to grab another drink, i'll do it. If they need 5 feet of space to get a drink...sit at your table and ask a server to bring you something. People always cram up near me when i'm getting coffee and drinks and i think nothing of it...have you been to a busy starbucks in midtown nyc? Its not having no courtesy, its maximizing space and time.
