We stayed in a studio at OKW last night. After checking in about 5...we wanted to drop our things and head to MK for the evening. We entered our studio and to our dismay neither bed had blankets or bed spreads. Hmmmm....we take a quick look around and everything is clean and spiffy. Even the beds are complete with towel animals and the decorative pillows....JUST NO BLANKETS OR BED SPREADS.

So..... I called house keeping to let them know and they were just as puzzled. She assured me they would take care of it. Then I also called the front desk and let them know too. Fast forward to around 11:30 and we arrive back at our studio. We now had blankets that were left at the foot of the beds, but NO bed spreads. So hubby made the beds with the blankets. I called the front desk again and told them about the situation. We opted to not have any brought up that late, but some one certainly dropped the ball.

Today we check into a 2 bedroom when the rest of our party arrives...... Hoping we get the FULL BEDDING package. LOL

So, the bedspreads were either stolen by the previous guest, or they actually DO remove them from the room and wash them every once in awhile!

When they go to triple sheeting there will be no bedspreads only sheets and a blanket and a bed scarf at the foot of the bed.

What do you mean by going to triple sheeting?? LOL

The bed is made up with two sheets folded around a blanket and one used for a bottom sheet. So it looks like a duvet, without the heavy, padded comforter that really isn't useable in the hot humid south.

Spoke with a manager here at OKW when we checked into 2 br. He said they are phasing ALL bed spreads out... At all resorts. He said due to how hot it is here and cost/time to launder them. This 2 br. has the spreads. Eventually they will all be gone.

This was announced months ago at the annual meeting. It is good to see that it is being implemented.
I very much like the themed bedspreads at each DVC resort. I am not a huge fan of changing for the sake of change itself. But I think this is the thing to do.
I am a huge fan of hotels that have the triple sheeting.
I have traveled pretty widely in Europe and the Uk and the norm is the comforter, no sheets at all. I hate that.

The only thing I can't figure out is-when you walk into the bedroom, are there just white sheets on the bed, nothing else? I think that's the way I saw things in a photo someone posted recently. There was no bed scarf, and the bed looked strange to me. I'll be anxious to hear first hand that there are indeed bed scarfs. Plain white sheets seem strange, sort of "Unmade" to me.

3 sheets and a blanket with a bed scarf at the foot. All DVC beds will soon have no comforter and no bedspread.

So basically what you made your bed up minus the bed scarf for decoration is what you will get in the near future.

Yes that is exactly what it looked like. However we only had sheets. No blanket... No blanket between sheets.

oh I despise that too. gave me the heebie jeebies when we were in Europe a couple of years ago. talk about wondering if the comforter had been laundered!!:scared1: it was really disturbing.

He said due to how hot it is here....

They do realize there's something called air conditioning, don't they? I actually get quite cold in the night, since I have different temperature needs than DH and DS do, and it defaults to them b/c they can only take so much off while I can use the comforter. So this will end up...interesting...for me. (I also have a weird thing where I need the weight of a comforter for easy sleeping, no matter how hot it is (and in western WA not a lot of people have AC, and that need was put to the test this last month of heat wave without AC!))

Great. Can I fit my own comforter in my Owners Locker? :faint:

I'm at Paradise Pier at Disneyland right now. My bed is triple sheeted, with a blanket in between and a scarf on the bottom. Was at VGC earlier this week, they still had the bedspread but it was triple sheeted.

This is me exactly. Llbean sells a nice weight blanket that would do the trick. Fits in the locker. Think it's called a Sherpa blanket. Fuzzy on one side, cotton on the other.

I hope they plan to add additional blankets in the closets that we can use. I'm relatively sure the bedspreads were removed (are are being phased out of all hotels, not just Disney) because of the TV shows on germy bedspreads. Just like the glasses and cups that were removed from studios, until they were bombarded with complaints.

As others said, this was announced at the annual meeting.

This is exactly my situation. I am accustomed to sleeping with the weight of a comforter and is difficult to sleep without it. I just learned this last week when the AC went out and even I was hot. I tried sleeping without any covering and after 2 hours opted for a sheet, sweat and still a restless sleep.

Sooo happy they are getting rid of bed linens that aren't being washed between guests!!!
What are they doing with the bedspreads and blankets they are getting rid of? I hope they are going to a shelter ( people or animal). Does anybody know about that?

In the past I've seen some Disney hotel bedspreads pop up for sale online along with room furnishings (TV armoires, side tables, lamps, etc.)
