No bed bug reports right

keep hoping, but they happen everywhere. We do checks whenever we get into any hotel room.

There haven't been any bed bug outbreaks that I read about. Occasionally someone will report that their room had them. I have never read an official response from Disney. But Disney seems to go right to work making a room bug-free if reported. Disney keeps on top of this issue.

No hotel is immune from being visited by bedbugs, Disney resorts included. There have been bedbug reports in the past, and there almost certainly will be in the future. It's not anything the hotel does or doesn't do, it's just a matter of whether they hitch a ride in on a guest's luggage or clothing.

If you're concerned, the thing to do is google 'bedbug check', and learn how to inspect your room. :thumbsup2

It happens and it seems some resorts get more reports than others. WDW was a special nighttime staff with bug sniffing dogs that deal with the reports. The best way to deal is to educate yourself and check before you settle in.

OK... what do i need to do when I check in? What do I look for??:confused3

I plan on checking because I am a freak about that stuff. I just hope they don't think I am neurotic-lol

I will be checking the mattresses but hoping I shouldn't be too worried :scared:

Really? Can dogs sniff out bedbugs? I've never heard that (but that doesn't mean much). Just wondering??

There are dogs trained in sniffing out bedbugs. Here in NYC we have a commercial that plays about Rosco, the bedbug dog. I'm not sure how it works, but it seems to be a popular thing here.

Beagles are especially good at this; they are also used to sniff out termite infestations.

They are smaller dogs that can get easier access into places like crawlspaces, etc.

There is also a program about it on Animal Planet they re-run every once in a while. There is a guy who lives in CA, I believe, and owns a pest control business, and he exclusively uses beagles from either shelters or rescues.

That explains it. Roscoe is a beagle too.

ABOUT BEDBUGS...
Adults are easily visible (dark brown and about the size of a tick), but the nymphs are translucent and quite small. Bed bugs in all stages of life are extremely flat, so they can hide in surprising places.

Remember that bed bugs don't care about cleanliness! They can thrive in an immaculate, five-star hotel room just as easily as somewhere run-down. All they need is proximity to people and a crevice to hide in.

You should know how to examine a mattress and how to examine a headboard, the most common hiding places for the bugs.

Store your luggage on a metal rack or luggage stand away from walls and furniture. This will greatly reduce the risk of bringing home an unwelcome visitor.

Pack light, and bring things that you can put through the dryer before returning home. A few minutes at high heat will be enough to kill bed bugs and their eggs without damaging most clothing. But you must ensure everything is heated all the way through.

Here is a web-site for reporting and reviewing bed bugs for WDW and other places and for the info above....
