No balloons at AKL?

I read that balloons bought in the parks need to be checked, is this correct? Does that mean AKL doesn't do the balloons tied to a card in the room? We always have that waiting for our daughter when we check in and was going to request it for my MIL. If AKL doesn't do that, is there something else I can request/order?

Yes, it's true that balloons are not allowed in the AKL. This is for the safety of the animals. We were asked to keep them in our car and not bring them into the lodge. Maybe try flowers or a cookie bouquet instead.

Right. No balloons allowed from the parks, nor are there any straws or lids allowed for drinks. All of these things are banned for safety of the animals.
