No balcony 2nd floor Poly concierge?

You can't step out, the rail is right there. When you open the door, the a/c in the room turns off. We tried opening the door and pulling the room chairs in front of it, but when you sat, the rail was right in your line of vision.

I remember seeing posts that state you cannot step out. Just like Sammie said, you can lean out.
I'm wondering how this affects the size of the room.
Are the 3rd floor rooms smaller to accomodate the balconies? From the pictures, it doesn't look like the balconies jut out any further than the other floors. Maybe I'm not seeing the photos correctly, but it doesn't look like balcony rooms overhang the 2nd floor. The exterior looks evenly straight down. I don't know if I'm explaining it clearly. :confused3

I wouldn't want a room without a balcony either. My mom enjoys relaxing out of the balconies when we vacation. I know it is just a request but I would ask to be moved to a different resort if I were stuck without a balcony.

It doesn't affect the room size at all. It may look like the balconies aren't jutting out but they most certainly are. They are about 3 ft deep.

Maybe I missed it but I looked on Tikiman's website but did not see a picture of a room without a balcony. From the inside that is. Never thought about the air conditioning turning off if you opened the window door.

Both times we've stayed at the PR we've had 3rd floor balconies. I would be very disappointed to get a 2nd floor room. I'd rather be on the first floor with the patio. Sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine watching the castle change colors is very important to me.

We always check in early and both times got our room right away but we do tend to travel off season.

We stayed GVC 3rd floor Hawaii longhouse last Easter/Spring Break. Must confess, I did really enjoy having the little patio balcony -- If you have an early riser (me, from excitement), I could get some juice for DH and kids and myself and enjoy the extra space on the balcony while they were still sleeping. But the concierge lounge is also really nice, and the view of the Castle is nice (and a bonus for GV guests).

Regardless of the floor you get, it is a great experience.

Thank you for this info. It's been driving me crazy trying to figure it out from the photos.

Question: what would you prefer, a GV with a balcony, or LV with no balcony on the 2nd floor?
I'll be at the Poly for the first time this summer, and I'm obsessed!

Not unless they want a smoking room - they're half of the 3rd floor at Hawaii(the half at the opposite end from the elevator and lounge).

I'd prefer a GV with a balcony. What's the sense of paying all that extra $$$ if you can't sit out on the balcony and enjoy it?

Well, that's an easy one, because we made that choice last trip: GVC with balcony! Oh, and as far as the 3rd floor being 1/2 smoking, we are non-smokers, and our room was non-smoking (and we never smelled smoke on the floor at all or in the lounge).
