I am trying to plan a last minute trip for October around one of the Halloween parties and I can't find ANY moderate availability. We have APs and are Florida residents so I looked under those discounts first and then logged out and just looked under regular rates and I can't find anything for less than $400/night around any of the Halloween parties. What am I doing wrong? Has it really gotten that busy in October?

I wanted to add one day to my October trip and couldn't find availability until I went to Orbitz and had to book a different resort for just that one day.

If one of the dates you are looking at is sold out Disney's system will show the resort as not available at all even if it is on the other dates. If you are willing to change resorts a few times, maybe break up your dates a bit and see if that helps.

Also - if you are willing to pay all of the resort 100% you could try places like Orbitz or Expedia.

We had to book Orbitz for my sister's room (Oct 27-30) because there was no availability on the Disney site. You may have better luck there.

I've been noticing the exact same thing! How can ALL of Disney be booked up for all of October. I have tried to split my stay etc, but am having the worst luck. Is it really going to be this busy in October?

I am with you! I had the same problem at the beginning of this month. I was finally able to get a room at rack rate. I then kept looking everyday and got POR with a discount. (My husband is less than thrilled he is not a fan of this resort) Anyways keep checking.

This is nuts! We have been in October many times and never found it to be particularly busy. I found a few rooms on Orbitz but I just am not willing to pay $230/night to stay at All Stars :(

I know! I found POFQ for 200 a night, that is what I originally booked at. I kept scouring for a discount and found the one at POR. My husband said he would have rather have paid more and stayed at FQ. He hates having to stand on the buses at POR. I hope you find something soon.

Yes it looks like Oct will be very busy. Decided 2 weeks ago to plan a quick trip for first weekend of Oct. Everything looks booked so going for offsite for first trip in 4 years.

My mom decided to come on our Halloween week trip two weeks ago, and we had to book her a split stay at the GF and WL to get all the days in.

I'm getting nervous about crowds!

For what it's worth, I was looking for a value hotel, found the same thing you did, no availability. I used the chat feature on disneyworld.com when I was searching, and the person I talked to flipped the page and I found All Star Sports for $119.00. Your mileage may vary but I thought that was interesting. :)

Food and Wine is happening in October, plus a lot of schools are now doing an October break. So with MNSSHP, and the perfect weather, I think it's becoming a popular time to go.

I'm right there with you! Been trying to plan a last minute trip for October myself. No deluxes at all for my dates. Only Coronado and All Star. It's very disappointing. :( But I guess it's good news for Disney, if every room is booked.

I just called and was told that there was VERY limited October availability. We already have a room booked but were hoping to switch to a different resort. I was offered to do a split stay but for our Oct. 12 thru 19th trip they said we would have had to change resorts 2 to 3 times if we wanted to switch from our original reservations, because no other resorts were showing availability for the entire week. I guess I should count our blessings that we have a reservation already. :)

We booked a mid Oct trip a couple weeks ago. I found rooms at Coronado Springs for that time frame. I wanted an Epcot resort since we are going to F&W and kept checking and finally got a room at BW and BC. We had to split the stay to get all nights there. But there wasn't much, that's for sure.

I would think that Mid October travelers may be canceling any day now too if they can't pay the balance, maybe you'll get lucky?!

I believe there was free dining for parts of October as well, which will fill up the resorts since you have to stay onsite to take advantage of free dining.

But I agree with PP - the system will reject your entire search if only one night of your stay is unavailable. Try checking each night individually and see which one is actually sold out.

Yep, I would check for openings 45 (44?) days from your arrival, since packages have to be paid by them. Might see some things open up. I'd call on that date to see what they can find. Good luck!

I guess for once we were smart in planning a year out! just out of curiosity we have been looking to see what has availability and there's not much out there! I am also getting worried about crowds! not so much for my husband and I but for those of you with small children. Good luck in finding something affordable...you need to have some fun!

My DD is a CM and we just tried to change our plans for mid-month Oct. the CM discount is great but we really have very limited choices, but there is availability. I also found that although many people say early Dec is a good time (albeit the Pop Warner time) I found trying to use the CM discount difficult and we had better luck mid-Dec (great choices! lots of availability)

This is easy to understand. The Gartner Symposium is Oct 4-8 which means the conventioneers are coming in that weekend. It's huge and fills resorts across WDW. You wouldn't have any chance 2 weeks out.

That, along with free dining, Food and Wine and MNSSHP means October is not a light month.
