We called and provisionally booked our preferred date yesterday (1st Nov 2011) for an escape wedding at the Wedding Gazebo and was told there is no availability for a MK photo shoot for the whole of November :(

Especially with all the really nice pictures coming out of these shoots recently I am really disappointed - just not sure if I'm disappointed enough to change the date.

Being in the UK it would probably have to be either 6 months or 12 months later and we have been waiting quite a long time as we went last September (2010) to have a look at the venues, whilst on holiday.

The other option is to consider another park but I'm not sure about that either - any suggestions?

Oh no im sorry :sad1: I didnt really think November would be a busy month but obviously it is! maybe there is a chance of someone cancelling, maybe your planner could keep you informed. I know that disney brides can do the photoshoot up to a year after their wedding - maybe you could go back for your first anniversary? Although Im a UK bride too and I know how expensive this can be but it would be a great excuse to wear your dress again :)

I wonder if they aren't doing the shoot that month because of work in MK.

Shoots in other parks i've seen are brilliant as well, a different feel to the castle shots obviously but great in their own right.

They have cut the number of shoots per day from 2 to one (because of the refurb) and every one in November is already booked.

I'm not sure I like the idea of doing the shoot a year after the wedding - feels a bit too strange for me, but I see why some people would do it.

I have seen lots of fantastic Epcot photos but it isn't as special for us, as we have been to a lot of the countries where people have had their photos taken.

I think AK might be great but I don't think I have ever seen any pictures - has anyone had one done there recently?

Thanks for the help :goodvibes

For personal reasons (money! :lmao: ), we've decided to wait for our MK/Epcot photos. We were originally getting married April 2012. We moved our wedding up to Sept 2011. We're just going to go back and do them at the original date. Not too long after, nice weather, spring.. plus another trip to Disney to wear the dress!

We also live in Georgia, which isn't very far to drive. We've went down many times just for the day at 1 of the parks in Orlando. Not a major drive for us, so it's really no big deal. We really wanted to do them in September. I was afraid I wouldn't get the photos I wanted with all of the work that's going on. I know they'll still be refurbing next year too, but.. =fingers crossed= I just didn't want to spend the money all over for hair/make-up, tux rental, all that jazz. But we wouldn't be able to do it the same day as our wedding anyway, so we'd be paying double on a lot of stuff either way.

So we choose 2 trips!!

I don't know whether it helps or not (probably not!!), but I am a S/D (VR) bride from the UK, and so was not entitled to a MK photo shoot (it wasn't a priority for us anyhow). I could have a shoot in any other park in bridal attire, but we decided that we would opt for a Trash the Dress session at the Poly instead!! We thought that we could get some lovely informal shots to contrast with the more posed/formal shots from the VR and, with being at the Poly, have the castle in the background. An added bonus was that we could use our chosen photographer (Randy). It is also significantly cheaper!!!
I realise your disappointment at not having an MK shoot, but you could maybe do something different instead - it may turn out to be just as much fun!!!

I'm sorry to hear there is no availably at the MK for a photo shoot for you.

The same thing happened to us last November. They were filming the Christmas parade and so no photo shoots could be scheduled. Our planner put our name down for the waiting list in case someone cancelled and as luck would have it someone did! So you never know.

As for going back in a years time, I initially felt like you and thought it would be 'weird' but the more I've thought about it I think it would an incredibly romantic way to celebrate an anniversary. Getting all dressed up again and reliving it all. :thumbsup2

Another alternative it to have a honeymoon shoot in the MK, sadly you can't wear bridal attire and there are other people in the park whilst the shoot is happening but I've seen some lovely shots on the boards.

That is really great to hear, I'm glad it worked out for you in the end :goodvibes

I think I would be happy going on a waiting list, with my fingers crossed for a cancellation. Then if it doesn't happen, like you said, we could go back a year later if we felt it was right for us then.

I know it feels awful waiting and hoping. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that another couple cancel or move their date. :flower3:

You'll have a wonderful time though even without the MK photo shoot as unique and lovely as an experience as it was it doesn't hold a candle to the ceremony :lovestruc

Yikes!!! I guess I waited too long to book,

I am a November bride also, and as disappointing as this is at the moment, an upside to all this is if you do go back in a years time...parts of the new Fantasyland expansion should be open and that means more picture opportunities!!!

Oh no! I'm so sorry about the limited availability! Fingers crossed there is a cancellation and they will be able to fit you in. Does being an Escape bride have anything to do with it (e.g. do Wishes brides get preference since they can lock in their dates earlier?) I suppose the most important thing is that you will still have a DFTW, and as some of the PPs have mentioned you may end up experiencing something more special you would have missed out on otherwise..

I remember seeing some gorgeous pics from an AK shoot in another thread a few weeks ago, and have just managed to find the link so you can check them out: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=39809678#post39809678 There are also some bridal portrait AK photos on the Disney Photography page http://www.disneyeventphotography.com/bridals.php?album=37

I would really like to do an MK shoot too and am worried about the same thing happening to us next November. It won't be possible for us to come back within 12 months for a re-shoot because we're so far away so if we miss out on our wedding trip we'll never get the chance. Does anybody know if/when they will be re-starting 2 time slots a day again? How far in advance can you book an MK shoot as an Escape bride?

Oh I never thought of this. I bet you can get some gorgeous pictures near the Beast's Castle and Belle's cottage! :thumbsup2

Oh no!
I am sorry! If it serves of any consolation, we just had our shoot at MK and AK in the very beginning of February and our very favorite photos came from the AK shoot. We got great ones from MK, but the AK scenery really makes for great photo ops.

Also if you wait a year like people pointed, you may have the opportunity to take photos on the brand new Fantasyland. Right now there is a lot of construction going on, it didn't affect us much at all, but it will be very interesting to see what the end product of all the work is, I am sure it will be beautiful.

We had our wedding this past December and couldn't do the MK photshoot because of the Christmas Parade Taping. We could still do Epcot but really wanted MK so we decided to wait.

I recently booked our MK/Epcot Photoshoot and it will coincide with our 1 year anniversary. I at first thought it wouldn't feel as special since it was so long after our wedding day. But now that the wedding is over I am really looking forward to getting back into our wedding attire and feeling special one more time. The wedding day itself is just so special and magical and you feel so good afterwards. Now we have the opportunity to in a way relive that day and the awesome feelings we had.

When I called she said that the last 2 weeks of November are not available to anybody because they open the park earlier due to the holiday season as well as the Christmas Parade taping in early December. I think we got the last day in November available, the 19th. She also said that there were only maybe 3 other days in December available and that was it for those 2 months.

I think it's good advice to get on a waiting list. You never know who may have it booked and then realize that they are over their budget and drop the shoot.

Good luck and I hope you get something but just know that waiting until a later date can be special too. :flower3:

I am so sorry they are booked up, I just booked for November like a week ago, that is crazy!

Maybe you can call like once a week and see if they have any cancellations...also as it gets closer people may not be able to afford it and have to let that go...I would just stay on top of it or see if they can contact you in case of cancellation?

I don't think you'd regret going with AK for your photos... I know I don't. The thread with the AK pics are mine and I loved most of them even more than my MK ones... though I love those too.

Thanks for all of your responses, I've got my fingers crossed that someone does move theirs and we can have a spot but after everything has been said I am much happier about going back a year later to re-live the magic.

Those AK photos are gorgeous Sam you two look wonderful in them - they have definitely given us something else to consider too.
