No availability at CBR early May 2020?

We are thinking about traveling 5/4-5/11 - flexible but that week and I'm getting nothing at CBR at all. All the other resorts but nothing at CBR until the following week. Is something going on = seems weird.

I think they are blocking off rooms for two different cheer competitions the first and second weekends of May. Some of the values and CSR will be blocked for that too.

Yeah there’s one the week before and one the week after. CBR is such a big resort I’m just surprised there’s nothing. Oh well I guess we’ll just have to stay at a deluxe resort

They removed over 550 rooms, upgraded Old Port Royale and dining options so CBR sells out even more than before.

These are both large Cheer competitions, and the second one is during your trip, May 8-10 (and they often book extra days). It is being offered so the rooms are likely blocked off for now. You could keep trying to switch it later when the teams actually qualify and then start their bookings ... you might find rooms open up if they choose other resorts.

But the resort is going to have high bookings with all the new options as @dansdad says plus now the gondola. CBR is going to become much more popular. Add in a group booking and it will be harder to get. I am imagining down the road groups won't be offered CBR, and moved to POR.
