NO availability at ANY DVC resort April 20-24

Maybe you have to look into booking CRO at a moderate and put your name on the wait list for anything at any DVC resort. That way you won't lose your plane tickets and you will have something. It stinks to have to shell out more cash for a moderate resort. You can also see if you can use points to stay at a Mod or say the Poly. I am not sure how this works but there is a point chart that explains this process. Good Luck!

FWIW...We also plan on going that week. I called at the 11 mo mark for SSR and I called in July for a room for my mother at VWL .(she rented VWL points) when I called at the 7 month mark to see if I could change my resort, the only thing available was SSR and OKW.

Maybe we should have a thread for the popular spring break weeks. I was thinking of going back last week of April 2009, and reading this thread makes me think maybe the first of May might be better for crowds!

We were there the last week of April last year(we booked BWV at 11 months, but got our BCV waitlist that we waitlsited for in February) and the crowds were not bad in the slightest.

I think the differnce this year is like another previous poster mentioned, it's Passover.
Our town always has the last week of April off regardless of when Easter or Passover falls, but I bet a lot of schools don't usually have that off, but do this year.
In 2009 Passover is April 9-15 so I think the last week will be more like 2007 than 2008.

I agree - those dates were probably booked right after the 7 month window opened. I'm not surprised there's nothing left at 90 days out. DVC can be very tough for those who want to book on relatively short notice.

Since you have already paid for your plane tickets, maybe you might want to try and use your DVC for one of the non Dvc resorts.....I know the points can be high, but you could give it a try and you can also go on the wait list.

I don't want you to think that I don't believe what you are saying, but I was waitlisted for almost 3 months (early-November through last week!) for just 4/20. AND I was waitlisted for two months (October - November) for 4/21 - 4/25, so I find it hard to comprehend why someone at Member Services would tell you on Saturady that there was availability for this time period. I understand that cancellations happen, which is why I had my waitlist dreams fulfilled, but this week has been booked solid for months!

I'm sorry that you are in a bind, and I know this doesn't really help now, but I would recommend in the future actually making the DVC reservation BEFORE booking airfare. The entire concept of "availability" with DVC is a joke in my opinion. I have lost an "available" room while checking other dates/resorts! Unless I am ready to book that very minute, I pay no attention to what Member Services says about "availability."

The only advice I have at this point is get on a waitlist ASAP and cross your fingers!

We got 4/20 - 4/24 in AKV/BWV & 4/24 - 4/26 in HH in exactly the type of rooms we wanted and I only called 3 or 4 weeks ago. I don't think it was booked up for months, but am not surprised that it is by now. Good luck with your planning.

What is going on? Spoke with member services on Saturday about multiple date choices--availability on all--made NON-refundable flights on Sunday--called MS this morning and absolutely NO availability at ANY DVC resort for April 20-24!!! What is going on? Easter is in March, so I would have thought all Spring Breaks would be over. Now what do we do?

Sorry to tell you this, but all of RI is off that week for school break, including most of the private schools.

We were down there in 2002 during "everyone's" spring break. Never again! The crowds were unbelievable and unbearable.

We opt to go in May. The weather is perfect and the crowds are light to moderate.
