No availability -- adding a night later

I'm playing with options for my March trip as I wait for discounts to hopefully drop. Polynesian Village does not have a standard view room available if I put in the dates March 3-9. But it does if I put in March 4-9.

My question is -- would it be better to go ahead and book March 4-9 and try to add a day to the reservation later?

Either the 3rd is booked up or there are some minimum/maximum night booking requirements in play.

Did you try checking to see if the 3rd is available as a one night stay?

Did you try booking for a full week including your days (just as an experiment)?

I hadn't tried either. Thank you for the tips. It does show March 3 as available for a one night stay.

It does not show availability for a full week, March 3-March 10 or 4-11.

Forgot to include this -- would you recommend booking the single night and the 4-9 separately?

I would. Then I would contact the resort ahead of time with both reservation numbers to let them know you'd like to stay in the same room. The down side is that while they will try to keep you in the same room, they won't guarantee it.

Rooms are tetris. There is a possibility that the room showing open for 3/3 isn't open on 3/4. Different units.

Another option would be to call Guest Relations @ Reservations. Basically, you would need to call reservations and they would tell you that you can't add the day due to no availability. They can only see what you can see online. At that point, you request to be transferred to Guest Relations. You will be on hold for a while, but I have done this 3 different times to add a day when I wasn't able to get it at the time of the initial request and they are helpful as anything and haven't let me down. Most recently, it was when the last "Free Dining" promo came out. Just my 2 Cents.

This happened to me when I tried to book two extra nights before our package. so I booked each night separate. After they send the magic bands at 30 days ill call and hook them together,
