There is no availability on Saturday, 3/29 for one night but I can book two nights 3/29 -3/31. Anyone know why that is? Can I book the two nights and cancel one later?

Sometimes hotels have minimum stay requirements. That's probably what you are running into. You might be able to fool the system by making a reservation for the whole thing and then canceling one night but then again it might not let you do that. It could force you to take both nights or none.

In 2006 our stay was off to a HORRIBLE start at the RPR. I went to the front desk to ask a clerk if there was any penalty for checking out early. Two clerks confirmed rather sweetly that as long as I didn't book a package and I checked out before 11 am, there was no penalty.

I don't know if their policy changed, but you may just be able to check out early if they won't allow you to book, then cancel one night ahead of time.

Now, I was clearly upset when I visited the front desk to ask about penalties. They didn't ask boo about why I wanted to check out early, which did infuriate me further, but that's a whole 'nother thread. ;)
