I saw online that there was no atrium show today nor was there a sail away party. I know the atrium show wasn’t an even trade off, but it’s disappointing that there’s nothing.
We were on the dream that left on Friday and they had Mickey and Minnie standing on deck 4 waving to everyone instead of the show as well. I kinda think it has to do with the number of people sailing. Having to stop for each show would have really slowed down the boarding process.
I also wonder if it has to do with performer contracts. You have to be masked in the theater, so maybe the presence of performers meant they didn’t want people to congregate unmasked.

Agree the post covid welcome show wasn’t nothing compared to sail away but it will be rubbish if we now get neither, it’s bad enough not having the sail away (it’s one of the things I really miss) but having absolutely nothing is rubbish

I suspect that too! We were on a busier sailing in October during a school break that had over 2000 guests, and let me tell you Captain Mickey and Minnie were dancing and singing the same routine nonstop to a full atrium for 5 hours straight, and we sailed away late, which I suspect was because with so many guests they were bottlenecked at the covid test station and waiting to get on board. I felt so bad for them for not getting any breaks, and even one of kids remarked they had the hardest job on the ship—they have to dance all day AND take turns being the ship captain. Not sustainable on busier sailings.

Probably not, though. I don't think that the characters are covered by those contracts. You don't have to wear a mask for any other character encounters anymore.
I also hope it means the sail away is coming back—that was the #1 thing I missed on my sailing in October. I think the shows are cheesy but it just wasn’t the same without that kickoff.
