No AP discount at Movies

Just called this morning to try and get AP rates applied to my ressie in October. Was told that no AP discounts exist for Movies - only Sports and Music (same resorts as the codes). They said Movies sells out by itself and there is no reason to provide discounts.

I kept my current reservation at Movies; currently I have a rate of $94.32 including tax.

Anyone else experience this?

Dagny at DU told me ASMo was not participating in the AP rate that just came out today.

Even last year there were some code offers that did not cover All Star Movies. All Star Movies is the newest and appears to be the most popular of the three All Star Resorts. It is just good business sense to not discount a room that you can sell at full price.

I know I am totally BUMMED!! about this. But I can understand that if they don't need to offer discounts why do it???

Last Oct the same thing ..... at first the ASMo was not included in any discount code.
But as the time came nearer.....the discounted rooms popped up. It was before Sept 11 that the rooms popped up at the discount, so that wasn't the reason.
IMHO and from what the CM told me on the phone....they hold rooms for various groups, and at CSR they hold them for various conventions. Then as the time gets closer and the rooms are not filling up with these groups.....then they can release them to discounts.

So if you really want Movies....just keep trying to see if anything pops up:)

I have a CM discounted room for the Movies in October, so I guess they did allow some rooms to be discounted. The only rooms they had available for CMs at a discounted rate was the preferred rooms. So for $5 more, not a problem.

We have a DC discount for Movies in August, so like the others have said, some discounts are out there.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was the only one here on the boards that didn't know Movies is not usually discounted :D

I just want cheap, clean and safe since I'll be traveling solo and won't be in the room that much. So, Movies is fine. I stayed there in March for the first time and enjoyed the atmosphere. My current rate includes the Disney Club discount so I'm satisfied with that. It sure beats the over $400 per night I'll pay in Feb. at the Poly (one night before my Disney cruise with my nieces)!!! Now, that's an AP discount I'll REALLY look forward to :D :D :D

I got a rate of $69 a night with the Disney Club rate at the Movies from Nov 30th-Dec 7th. There are some discounts out there, but not the new codes or AP rates. I made this ressie a few months ago.

Keep calling back. I was able to get a room at ASMo in Sept. with the AP discount.

Last year they told us that they did not have any AP discounts at ASMo, but I eventually got one. I just kept calling back about once a week until one was available.
