WE are still without decent airfare - YIKES!!!! MSP to MCO Oct. 15th - 24th!

It is getting pretty close to those dates. I hope you find something but usually (more often than not) airfare doesn't drop this close to the dates. In fact it usually goes up. I hope you find something. Do you have a backup plan if you can't get the airfare at a price you want?

I don't know if Southwest is an option for you guys, but they tend to offer lower fares in the weeks before your trip... If you can catch them. They have a program called Ding that's just installed on your computer and then notifies you when there's a fare for your chosen airports. They also don't charge for bags. I haven't got my airfare yet either, and I leave a week after you do, so I totally empathise :lmao:

I would not go one minute past three weeks in advance. At about 24 days, it will be time to pull the trigger and buy the best fare you can, or cancel your trip.

WE hate waiting -- have never waited this long before. There are 6 of us flying - the rooms are all paid for. We have been watching bing.com & it says to 'wait' - has anyone gone along with that & ended up with a good deal. The fare are high because it is MEA here in Minnesota - schools are out for a few days. Maybe tomorrow - Labor Day - there will be a nice surprise in the fares dropping. Crossing our fingers.

Have you considered other airports? Airtran flies from MKE, while a five and a half hour drive. The savings may be worth it. It doesn't seem that the flights to MCO are the issue, it is the return flights that are real high.

I'm so sorry you're stuck waiting but because it IS MEA week I don't recall ever seeing the fares go down for that time. They tend to be high and stay high until the time of departure.

Best of luck on your wait! I hope something pops up for you soon!

:thumbsup2 WE finally booked our airfare for Oct. 15 - 24. After checking serveral times a day for months - Delta came up with $420.00 straight shot down & early afternoon return which is actually in 1st class. We used miles & cash so ended up paying $320 per ticket. We had hoped to get the price under $300 -- but we are all happy with the outcome!!

We were holding out for good MSP airfare for that same week. I was getting nervous we would have to cancel. Eventually, we decided to use miles for my husband's ticket and take a connection through Detroit (which we NEVER do - I hate spending any more time traveling than I have to) and even shuffled days around - changed from Sat-Sat to Fri-Fri.

My husband works for an airline so it pains me to even buy tickets when we fly standby for free, but I didn't want to risk it that week with all the schools being out. I miss the days when my kids were smaller and we could go anytime. :(

I'm glad you were finally able to get airfare at a price you were able to handle! Enjoy your trip.
