No ADRs in late Sept- is it possible?

Hey all you expert-types and helpful folks,

I just booked and paid for a quick trip to Mouseworld late Sept. and didn't want to overthink/overplan things this time. I was planning to wing-it with our meals, but the more I read these boards, the more it sounds like we'll end up starving. . .

Would it be possible for us to call Disney Dining the day of and see what's available for dinner? We are not picky, I would love to try the restaurants in the resorts (which I would assume are easier to get into), it's just me & hubby, and we'll have the park-hopper passes (so won't be limited to locations).

What do yall say? Thumbs down? Should I make ressies just in case?

Thanks bunches and happy travels!

as a compulsive planner i would say go ahead and book now !! that said as there are only two of you if you eat at "off" times you will probably be ok :)

My DH and I did this last year for free dining I mad the 3 ADR's I REALLY wanted and we called the day of or the night before for everything else. we were not trying for Le Cellier CRT or Coral Reef so we pretty much got what we wanted . We do tend eat at off times when we are there so that did help as well but if you are not picky you should be able to find something

If you do have something specific in mind you might want to give a call to see if you can make a ressi. I've been trying for LeCellier and I'm having no luck. But we are a family of 4 and can't just go up to some place and then wait.... I need to have something in place. Good luck

I can't comment on September but my DD and a friend are coming back from WDW today after a week long stay. They went with 3 ADR's, for the Garden Grill, China, and Wolfgang Pucks. Without ADR's they ate at Rainforest Cafe at AK, Alfredo's, Rose and Crown, Mama Melroses, San Angel in Mexico, and Prime Time Dinner at MGM. They never had more than about a 20 minute wait and even got a patio table at Rose and Crown from which they got to watch Illuminations last Wednesday night. If you don't absolutely have to have certain resturants it seems you can do okay without ADR's.

Fantastic news, thank you so much!

I do have a list in mind of places we'd like to try, but my heart is not set on any particular ones. As long as we don't end up at the Mouse Motel food court, I'll be happy.

You guys rock!:cheer2:

We thought we could wing it last October. Usually it is very slow. Big mistake many of the restaurants were completely booked, even the resort ones. Most were not taking walk ins about the only thing we could get into was Boatwrights. The free DD really has taken a majority of the ADRs and made it very difficult to get into the restaurants now.

Grumpy92, I am sorry to hear that happened to you.

I'm curious, though. Did you call Disney Dining the morning before dinner and ask if anything was available or did you just walk around, checking around dinner time?

Thanks!
