This is our 5th trip to WDW and this trip we have no planned or booked adr's at all for our whole stay, now is that crazy or what haha! I'm usually booking and planning months and months out, this time it's going to be a fly by night eat in villa counterservice kind of trip. Never gone in the beginning of August and don't know what to expect more then that the heat is the same as here at home ;) No clue about how crowds are or anything and we decided to just go day by day and really, take it easy and not do the run around craze we have always done before on our previous trips. The only one meal I'd like to book really, is a breakfast but can't decide on Poly or Boma (never been to either), now I'm wondering if it is possible to relax and not get into the "get up at dawn" thing hahaha, this is a true test to see if it will really work. Sleep in as long as we want, hang by the pool and maybe only do parks early morning some days and late nights other days..oh well time will tell!

I love to watch scientific experiments that use real people as test subjects.. popcorn::

Please folks, don't talk OP out of the original plan. I can't wait to hear the trip report :3dglasses

we did that this past trip in march...no ressies just ate when and where we felt like it. we walked right in at 5:30 to scifi one night and cape mays the next night, with NO ressies!

We'll be there about the same time, however, we will be the ones inside the restraurants eating. We go to WDW to relax and eat great meals. Since we have 2 toddlers with us, having a place to feed them everynight was important to us. We won't be doing much other than visiting the parks in the morning if we feel like it, hanging by the pool and eating at our favorite places. Actually I just rearranged 3 dinners yesterday for our group of 9, and while it did take moving things around to get a decent time for WCC, by switching our Olivia's ADRs, it wasn't too hard to get what we want. We did cancel a Cape May ADR for a group of 11. No one wanted to eat there--sort of, we did it in May and no one wanted to return. Good luck OP, at least you have a kitchen--I did notice you said your would eat at the CS at your villa....you do know there is no CS at the BWV right? Also none at YC or BC (except the quickie shack at the pool). Please post back if you think it was wise to do it this way. Personally after 2 days of CS, that's usually all I can take. We are at Pop for 6 days, then switch to a 2 bedroom at the BCV for 4 days. Even though we will have a kitchen, we still don't have any meals there other than something quick.

One of these days I'm going to take the same approach...perhaps if they end doing a CS-only dining plan. Frankly, it sounds wonderful to me to not have to plan it all out to the minute six months out! I can't wait to hear your trip report. The one time we've gone with ADRs and wanted to eat in TS restaurants, I regretted it terribly. We ended up getting a few, but they were at odd times in places that weren't my first choices. Silly me though the beginning of December would be less crowded. Oh well...live and learn. We off again in the December and I've got my ADRs, but am calling daily for a breakfast opening for CRT. LOL

Our first trip 3 or 4 years ago we did not know ADRs were necessary. It was early June and we Walked up to Cinderellas Castle, noticed a gentleman turned away, but thought we would ask if they had a table for 3 availible anyways. Didn't know enough to be surprised when we were escorted right in for Lunch. Rest of our meals were Cs, just didnt think to check out any other Ts restraunts.
It took reading the disboards in preparation for the next trip to know how lucky we were. So good luck you never know you may be lucky too.

It's great to feel so free! If you decide breakfast I have eaten at both Poly character breakfast (Lilo & Stitcha and friends) and Boma. Poly character breakfast is served family style (eggs, potatoes, breads, bacon, coffee, juice and ickey waffles when we went 2005)so you won't need to get up for buffet-there are games during the meal that the kids can participate in(a parade with the characters, etc) and food was good and server replenished whatever you wanted. I liked not doing the buffet. BOMA is buffet, also very good with many more choices for the group and make own omellete station....I liked both.

Have fun and try to stay cool!

I don't think it's crazy at all. My family has been going to WDW for well over 30 years and my parents have yet to make a single ADR. This trip (going without my family this time) I've made several, but that's because I want to try out a bunch of new restaurants and I want to make absolutely sure that I get into them.

But no, depending on the time of year and what times you're heading into restaurants to eat it shouldn't be bad. We've even walked up to Le Cellier several times over the last few years . . . something you'd think couldn't be done if you took everything said here too seriously.

Yay for you! :cheer2: Enjoy your relaxing, "unplanned" trip!:) We go once a year and this October will be the FIRST time I have ever made an ADR (I did FIVE!) from my home phone. We do a lot of counter service at odd hours and just ride, ride, ride! However, we have had the good fortune to walk in and get a table right away at a lot of restaurants. We are taking our friends for their first visit so we thought we would plan a little more when it comes to dining this time around.

We're going in November, and I'm not planning any adr's except for HDDR. We really liked that and I dont see that as an ADR, but as a ticket for the show and food is included :)

This is my first trip making ADR's - but we only made 2 so far....1 Breakfast and 1 lunch. I do plan on making one dinner ADR too, if only I can decide where! :) DH hates having to be certain places at certain times....whereas I'm the planner and want to have an itinerary. We have never had problems finding places to eat, but if you have your heart set on somewhere special, make the ressie - that's how we compromised this trip.

Have fun!

We are going with free dining this year. We have several adr's but thinking about canceling most on them. I like the idea of eating when and where you decide to on the spot. I am not into all the fancy food, so mostly counter service is fine with us. I figure we can always find a salad or full meal at counter service if that is what we want. Last year they gave us two extra snacks for the table service and I think I would rather have the extra snacks. Last year we had adr;s for everyday and we ended up canceling alot of them the day of the reservation. i know i am rattling on. have fun on your trip and give a full trip report.

We've never done a trip without ADR's but we had 2 where we only had 1 ADR and everything else was on the fly. It's easier to do when you don't have kids. We're also doing DDP this trip so I needed to have TS meals. Plus it's nice to sit down and relax. We still do what we want on our trip and don't do it commando.

Enjoy your trip and I think either the Poly or Bomo would be a good choice. We've had breakfast at the Poly but not at Boma but I've heard a lot of people love it.

SO COOOOOL not to have a schedule or ADR's. I'm not a big CS person although I might be able to do it if we stayed near Epcot:):).I want to hear what you have for each meal. YEAH for you!:wizard:

I did notice you said your would eat at the CS at your villa....you do know there is no CS at the BWV right? Also none at YC or BC (except the quickie shack at the pool).

YC/BC have the Beach Club marketplace. Cold stuff mostly, sandwiches, pastries, drinks... but they have a good selection of things you can cook in your villa.
Boardwalk Bakery has some cold stuff too and there's the pizza window at Spoodles as well as the hot dog cart by the water.

Personally I like making ADRs, it's part of the "joy" of planning, but I do think one day it'd be fun to try and go with no ADRs, no plans, and just do what we want to do whenever we want.
NOT in the summer or at Christmas time though!

We're going without ADR's as well. We didn't sign up for the dining plan this year (free dining dates didn't work for me!)

We have plans for counter service and off site.
