My fiance and I will be arriving at Disney Nov 27 for our honeymoon and he feels that there is no need to make ADR's because he doesn't want to have a "plan." So, we have made NO ADR'S and we are leaving in 3 weeks. He thinks that when we arrive we can just have the resort try to make us reservations to the few places we want to eat at. We have several in mind and are not too picky.

Has anyone used this hotel service and had luck or are we better off attempting to make ADR's ASAP. We have the dining plan and we can be as flexible as we need to be.

Just hoping someone has an opinion or idea!

Flexibility will definitely help you but we were there at the end of September and I was amazed at how full the restaurants were. At at least 2 places I heard them telling walkups that they wouldn't even take their names because they were full for all seatings and the waitlist was full. These were popular places (Le Cellier and Yachtsman)but I'd at least make one if I had really high hopes of eating at someplace specific. I was really happy I had made PS's.

First of all, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
Personally, I would try to make ADR's before I left home. When we were there 2 weeks ago, we saw people being turned away from restaurants everywhere who did not have ADR's. If you have some ADR's you can also use the hotel Guest Services strategy to fill in the gaps or to even make some changes if you so desire - the best of both worlds.
Since the inception of the Dining Plan, TS restaurants are much busier than in past years. I would not go on the Dining Plan without ADR's as I fear I would not be able to use my TS credits - at least not where I would like to.

Why not make a few ADRs that you can always cancel once you are down there. I also do not like having a plan but it is nice to at least have a few options.

I just returned from a long weekend trip to the Beach Club Villa with no ADR's made. On last Thursday we were able to book the Yachtsman for an excellent meal for 8 PM. On Friday we were in Epcot and I was able to walk up to Chef's de France in the afternoon and made a reservation for that night, on Saturday, we made a reservation at the Flying Fish for 9 PM, on Sunday we ate at Ragland Road. I have always found that if it's a small party there is no problem getting good restaurants. You may not get the restaurant you want when you want it, but you will get a good restaurant. There are so many restaurants at Disney that offer great meals. You won't have any problems. Just work with the concierge or dial WDW dining (55) on your room phone.

Thank you all for your suggestions...I finally convinced my future husband that we should make a few ADR's for certain things we knew we wanted to get to. The lady we talked to was so sweet, I wish I would have gotten her name because she was very patient and gave me great tips as well as made us reservations for Narcoossee's on our last night so we could enjoy a romantic dinner watching fireworks.
Thanks again...you all have helped me.

I'm glad you were happy........I just can't imagine eating dinner at 9pm! :earboy2:

Congratulations and have a great time! :wizard:
You'll be happy (and so will your fiance) that you made your ADR's!!

Hey, It's vacation, what's the big deal. By the time you get done in the parks etc, it's late anyway, plus it was food and wine. But I had a great meal no matter what time it was.

That I can't eat that late without having tummy problems, a difficult night of sleeping, and feel lousy the next morning. Good for you that you can - makes it much easier to do WDW without reservations, but not everyone can eat dinner at 9:00.

We are arriving Nov. 27 for our honeymoon as well! I made a few ADR's: Le Cellier, 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace, and California Grill, at my TA's suggestion - however, if for some reason we don't feel like eating out at any of those, I plan on cancelling - but if we feel like it, then we can do it! By the way, we're also doing a Christmas sleigh ride at Wilderness Ridge - sounds romantic to me, just in case you want to check on it!

Eating at 9pm is normal here in NY!

about normal for me, too. I work late evening shifts and my lunch break isn't even until 10pm, so hopefully this late dinner philosphy will help us to get into a few places without ADR's at WDW, too.

yikes, i would definetly make some adrs for those not to be missed special meals you'll want to have ie the world showcase restaurants at epcot, royal table at the castle, california grill during the mk fireworks, etc. these are all very popular restaurants & you might not get in without an adr. its your honeymoon plus its a holiday weekend so its going to be crowded. i like having some flexibility but i also like to have good food at those special restaurants.

best of luck & congratulations, get planning!
