No AAA rate

If all AAA rates are sold out at a specific hotel and someone cancels, does that then make a room available at a AAA rate? Or once they're gone, they're gone, no matter if there are cancellations. Just wondering if I should bother to keep checking back.

My assumption would be that each resort gets X number of AAA rates, and if the number is below X (either hasn't been reached yet or there have been cancellations that brought the number back down) it would open up more rates until X number is reached again. So, I'd keep trying.

But we all know what they say about assumptions , so I'm giving this a bump in hope that someone else can answer with certainty.

Having worked reservations for Embassy Suites several years back, I can give you an idea how it was done there and I think it is kind of a universal thing for hotels. There is someone in charge of room inventory. They set how many rooms will be available at each rate for every date. We would get X amount available at government rate, x amount at Entertainment rate, etc. When someone would call and request the rate, we would put it in and the computer system would either accept or reject it based on whether all the rooms at that rate had been sold for those dates. Once someone cancelled, the room DID indeed drop back into the inventory and become available for someone else to book at the discounted rate. HTH!

people change their minds all the time or I do so just check back daily. you might even post a thread asking who has canceled post here type of thing and see if your resort pops up for your time. just an idea

DisneyWisher, this WAS my nickname growing up. During a rebellious phase as a teenager, some of my friends altered it to HeatherLeather for awhile. I'm definitely back to the HeatherFeather life now though.
