No AAA discount?

I contacted AAA to book our family's January 2019 trip. I've used AAA in the past because it used to include a decent discount. I was told they no longer offer this.

Now, also, in the past my AAA used a "Disney expert" to book the trips and she's now retired. Do you think perhaps this new person (not a "Disney expert") is incorrect or are there no more AAA discounts?

I'm thinking I should call back and speak with someone else.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks!

:thanks:

Crud.

See what happens when I don't head to Disney after three years? So what's the lesson here? Go to Disney more often, obviously!!! *lol*

Sad but true - no more AAA Disney discounts

There are a lot of legitimate Disney expert TA's around, should not be hard to find one if it's agent assistance you want. Just make sure the agent has spent time at Disney and not just taken the online course. Just the basics are covered in the agent courses and no substitute for boots on the ground knowledge!

Was told by a source who should know that so many Disney promos were better than the usual AAA 5% - 10% discount that Disney was not seeing AAA rates used that much anymore. AAA was never a blanket discount for any date or resort, at least not in the last decade of it's existence, they had a room allotment just like other promos and rooms were not always available.

No AAA discounts at Disney but they are available at Swan/Dolphin for rooms and most of the restaurants at Swan/Dolphin.

The couple times we did Universal we found more AAA discounts there. We haven't stayed on site there so not sure about discount on the rooms, but in the parks and what not. Unfortunately haven't seen a AAA discount at Disney in a while.

Disney and AAA ended their promotional partnership a couple of years ago now.
Example there is no more AAA diamond parking or AAA storytime and no more AAA discounted room/vacation packages.
However you can still receive a slight discount on multi day tickets if you purchase through AAA.

I stopped booking through AAA a few years ago because I wanted full control over everything where as if you book through a TA if you want to change anything about your reservation you have to have them do it instead of being able to call Disney directly.

There were no discounts when we booked in 2015 either.

In 2015 and this time in 2018, we booked during Disney Month (January) at AAA, so we are getting Disney gift cards as a part of the promotion. They do a trip tik for us. As longtime AAA members, we still book through them because our TA is always keeping track of deals and upgrades. Last time we were booked in the garden wing at the Contemporary. A few weeks before we left, she upgraded us to a high tower room with a bay view for no extra cost. The view from the room was breathtaking.
